Charming thatched cottage with enclosed garden,in village of Pennedepie on the Normandy coast, 600metres from uncrowded sandy beach,between small towns of Honfleur and Trouville/Deauville.
This delightful chaumiere was originally where apples were squashed in an enormous circular horse drawn press to produce the precious juices for the fabrication of cider and calvados.
Today it has been transformed into a comfortable cottage with two bedrooms,one double, one twin and a single bed in the Petit Salon ideal for up to 5 guests.
The enclosed garden looks out onto a magnificent display of many rare species of plants and flowers through which a stream runs down to the sea.
Close to La Forge is a quiet lane which leads down to a deserted sandy beach( about a 10min walk), ideal for cricket, kiteflying,and football.
La forge is ideal for a family with small children as they are unable to escape once the garden gate is firmly shut!!
4 bicycles are available for guests use.
You enter La Forge from the enclosed garden into a dining,sitting kitchen area where there is a large dining table, a pine dresser and sofa where you may relax to watch television or DVD's. Through the door to the left is the twin bedroom and bathroom with bath, washbasin, WC and washing machine. Through the door to the right is the Petit Salon ideal for quiet relaxation with its Lloyd Loom sofa and armchair,one single bed and a door opening out onto the enclosed garden. A shower room with shower, wash basin and WC and the second bedroom with large double bed lead off the salon.
The kitchen area is well equipped with dishwasher, microwave cooker, small fridge with freezer compartment plus a large fridge, toaster, kettle coffee machine and water filter jug.
The beds are made up with duvets and Egyptian cotton sheets, soft fluffy towels are also provided. A complete change of linen once a week is included for guests who stay more than a week.
La Forge has a secure enclosed garden, surrounded by a hedge . There is a wooden dining table with benches and double deckchairs and parasol for relaxation under the walnut tree.

Local activities in and around Honfleur, Normandy
Normandy is of course famed for its sights of historical interest, the D Day landing beaches and memorials as well as the Bayeux Tapestry, however visitors also come to discover its great mix of lush countryside and miles of unspoilt coastline. In addition the region offers fantastic local produce including cider and calvados and of course excellent cheeses.
The delightful town of Honfleur with its long history and stunning architecture is hardly 10mins away to the east. Here you will find bustling restaurants, art galleries, churches and museums. Honfleur is particularly famous for its part in the history of Impressionism, where the artists at the end of the 19th century were so attracted by the extraordinary light which exists in the Seine Estuary. Deauville and Trouville with their renowned boardwalks, casinos, luxury shops are to the west.
The many day trips possible include: The famous Normandy Invasion beaches, including the American Cemetery at Omaha Beach, the Mulberry Harbour at Arromanches and its interesting museums, including a 360° cinema showing an impressive film, Monets Garden at Giverny, Le Mont St Michel, the beautiful towns of Rouen and Caen, Paris (2 hours by car),the National Stud at Le Haras du Pin, the famous cliffs at Etretat,the beautiful Pays d'Auge with its apple trees and lush green valleys may be discovered on foot, by bicycle or by car.
A tree climbing adventure park is 15mins away in St. Gatien les Bois, the nearest supermarket is 5mins away in Equemauville and the closest banks in Honfleur.
Several golf courses are within easy reach: St. Gatien 10mins, Golf de Deauville 15mins, Golf de St. Julien Pont l'Eveque 15mins,Golf de Etretat 45mins.
Horse riding may easily be organised in Pennedepie itself, with the vast beaches providing ideal galloping ground.

Rental Notes: La Forge is normally available from 4PM on a Saturday to 10AM on the Saturday of departure. Depending on bookings it may be possible to arrive and depart on any other day.
Prices are for the property per week in Euros, all inclusive of sheets, towels all household necessities, 4 bicycles, charcoal for the BBQ etc. You really only need to arrive with toothbrush and toothpaste as well as beach towels.
On booking a bank transfer of 300EUROS will be required followed by the remaining amount one month before arrival.
