Lots to see and do in this unspoiled, sparsely populated area of Stratherrick just 3 minutes drive up the hills above Loch Ness. There are unlimited local forest and hill walks, many Lochs and rivers, rare birds and animals, such as peregrine falcons, red kite, ospreys, red squirrel. The cottage is environmentally friendly, with green electricity, a newly fitted bathroom, large well equipped kitchen, all finished to a high standard. This traditional foresters cottage makes you feel relaxed from the moment you arrive thanks to the beautiful and quiet woodland setting. With Loch Ness nearby and hills, mountain and lochs in all directions, you can sit and watch the ever-changing scenery, sunsets and wildlife.
There are three comfortable, well-equipped bedrooms (two twins and one double) also with lovely woodland views, ensure you will sleep well in the peace and quiet of the private countryside location. The well-appointed kitchen allows you to enjoy preparing the rich variety of local produce available at local Farmers Markets and from local producers. Inverness city is only 16 miles away (25 minute drive) and you have ample car parking space including a car port and long private gravel driveway at the cottage for any number of vehicles.
The wildlife will also amaze you with dozens of birds visiting the garden, regular sightings of red and sika deer, pine martens, pheasants, osprey, woodpeckers, red squirrels, bats and at night you are guaranteed to hear the occasional owl. There are excellent views of the Monadhliath mountains from the front windows.
With SKY satellite TV, home entertainment, board games, CDs and DVDs you are ensured of a fun time inside or out. Free fishing is allowed from many local lochs and rivers. Visitors have caught brown trout & salmon. Fort Augustus is 25 minutes away with its stunning locks and good range of restaurants. The nearby village of Foyers (4 miles away) has a post office, general store and cafe for your everyday needs.

Local activities in and around Loch Ness, Highlands & Islands
Woodside is in the village of Errogie in the unspoilt, sparsely populated South Loch Ness area with many woodland, mountain and loch side walks starting from the front door. Within a few minutes of Woodside there are many other lochs, mountains and forests to explore. The wildlife will also amaze you with much to be spotted in the woodland from the windows or decking at Woodside inclduing dozens of bird species, regular sightings of red and sika deer, pine martens, pheasants, osprey, woodpeckers, red squirrels, bats and at night you are guaranteed to hear the occasional owl. Golden eagles have also been seen and the nearby Loch Ruthven is an impressive bird reserve. Dolphin watching is guaranteed from Chanonry Point on the Black Isle, a 40 minute drive away. Woodside is an ideal base for touring everything the Highlands have to offer.
Red squirrels and pine martens populate the nearby Farigaig forest which stretches along south Loch Ness, and covers several thousand acres. For the golfers amongst you, there are several first class golf courses to choose from, within easy reach. There is plenty of free lochside and riverbank fishing. Permits are obtainable locally for stocked lochs and boat fishing. Woodside is an excellent base for touring and winter skiing, with Cairngorm and Aonach Mhor ski centres only 45 minutes drive.
Easy day trips can be made to Skye, Fort William, Ben Nevis, the Cairngorms and Aviemore, the RSPB osprey centre at Boat of Garten and even the Orkney Islands (there are organised day trips from Inverness). Nearby Fort Augustus is a beautiful small town with amazing stepped locks connecting Loch Ness to the west coast and a fascinating rare breeds centre. Boat trips are also available on Loch Ness from Inverness plus dolphin watching cruises. The nearby village of Foyers (2 miles away) has a post office, general store and cafe for your everyday needs.
From Inverness take B862 via Dores (left fork) to Errogie (16 miles). Woodside is 2nd cottage on right. From A9 at Daviot take B851 then join B862. Errogie 1 mile. Village sign is just past Woodside.
