Oak Cottage is a 3 Bedroom/2 Bathroom Self catering cottage (sleeps 8) set in the grounds of the owners accomodation. It is in a small rural village in the beautiful region of Central Portugal.
The cottage sits in the shade of Oak and Olive trees. There are many fruit trees in the garden from which guests are welcome to pick fruit.
There are 2 swimming pools and a childrens play area in the grounds, and a cafe/mini-market walking distance away.
You can just relax here or use it as a base to explore and try out the many activities available in this region.

The cottage is on one level and can be accessed without using steps. There are 3 bedrooms and a double sofa bed so it will sleep 8.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need during your stay. Children/Baby bowls and cutlery are available on request. There is a dining area and lounge seating for up to 8 people.
There is a large 16m x 6m swimming pool and a childrens pool, they are in shade in the afternoons; also BBQ area and Childrens play area for your use. You will always find shade in the garden and around the pools as there are many trees. You can pick fresh fruit depending on the season, we have oranges, tangerines, lemons, pears, apples, peaches, apricots, plumbs, figs, grapes, kiwis, walnuts, and even bananas (not get big enough to eat yet!).
The cottage is in a small village, close to the market towns of Alvaiázere and Cabaços, and between Tomar and Coimbra. The coast is about 1 hour drive but the beautiful River Beaches of the Rio Zêzere are only a short distance away.

Local activities in and around Alvaiazere, Costa de Prata
Here are some of the activities you can do which are close; Within 1/2 hour drive - fishing & water sports on the lake, picnic / BBQ / swimming at the river beaches, paintballing, horse riding, cinema, walking, visiting Dinosaur footprints, caves and grottos, historic castles, Roman ruins and museum.
Within 1 hour drive - Praia de Rocha (river beach water park), visit Coimbra (Portugals 3rd largest city)for sightseeing and shopping, go to one the many Silver Coast beaches.
Within 1 1/2 hr drive - scuba diving, surfing, visit Portugals capital city Lisbon.
There are many beautiful and historic sights around Central Portugal and too many to mention them all but some that are worthy of mentioning are the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Evora, the Convent of Christ in Tomar, Monastry of Alcobaça, Monastry of Batalha. There is also the amazing walled town of Obidos, Coimbra, Lisbon, the seaside resort of Figueira da Foz.
If you want to explore further afield the Algarve is only 4 hours, the Dao river and Port region is about 3 hrs to the North and the Serra de Estrella Mountain and Ski resort is 2 1/2 hours. We realy are in The Centre of Portugal.
