Walk/Climb/Ski-ing/Cycling - The area has a huge variety of walks / climbs/Cycles routes and Skiing suitable for all ages and abilities - set in either the valley or foothills of the Pyrenees. The ultimate is, of course, to climb the Canigou (Sacred mountain of the Pyrenees) for which you should allow a whole day OR you can take a 4x4 lift for most of the way !
Fishing - The River Tet and the barrage at Vinca provide good fishing. Visitors have to obtain a permit which is supplied locally.
Historical - As the area is on the border, and has been owned by both Spain and France, a variety of sites of historical interest from pre-historic caves through Cathar castles to the Second World War with a Catalonian flavour. In particula, Villefrance, Mont Louis, Bellasta, Perpignan (King of Majorca) .
Holiday in Ill - The town lies half way down the valley of the river Têt as it flows from the Pyrenees through Perpignan and from there to the Mediterranean sea. Apart from its interesting historical features, the town has a range of shops, bars and cafes. It lies in a valley of fruit trees growing peaches and cherries in the warm rays of the Roussillon sun. Local wine is of excellent quality. Market day is Sunday. Furthermore, Ill is perfectly situated as a centre for exploring the beautiful landscape and rich heritage of this unique area.
Historic Sites - Numerous castles and castle ruins dot the landscape, which were either military strongholds or built by Cathar refugees from the Inquisition.
Fishing - local. Ski-ing - 50 minute drive (or by train). Golf - 35 minute drive. Beach - 40 minute drive (or by train/bus). Go Karting - 25 minute drive. caving/canoeing/rafting - 30 minute drive away. Perpignan City - 20 minute drive (or by bus/train). Other local towns easily accessible by regular bus/train service.
Ill-Sur-Tet is off the N116, take the exit and follow the signs for Centre Ville, then for the train station (Gare) - the house is directly opposit the main station car park on Rue de la Liberte.

Rental Notes: Changeover days are flexible. Departure by 11am. Arrivals after 4pm. (negotiable) - Only full week bookings normally considered during peak periods. Short Break bookings welcomed at other times.
We require a 25% non-refundable booking deposit with your reservation.
Final payment is required 8 weeks before the start of the rental period - this can be made in either Euro's or Sterling.
We require a £50 security deposit with each booking. This may be given to us as a cheque, prior to the booking. This cheque will be returned, un cashed, following our inspection of the house after departure. It is expected that visitors will leave the house in a clean and tidy condition with the beds stripped and with any breakages replaced.
Keys are obtained from Pat or Chris who live in an adjacent property on the same site.
