The Old Chapel - Beautifully converted old chapel/meeting rooms
Cottage with 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4, Garden
The Old Chapel is situated 4 metres from extensive woodland in the Royal Forest of Dean. Previously a small chapel/meeting rooms, it has been sympathetically converted, retaining much character and charm with many original features such as extensive pine panelling, exposed stone walling, brick window sills, wooden sash windows and pitch pine doors - even an original church pew! It is situated in a small lane off the main (village!) road.
The Royal Forest of Dean is a beautiful and unique area of south-west England with a magical and mysterious quality to it. The area was once a royal hunting ground for Norman kings. JK Rowling grew up in the Forest of Dean, and gained much of her inspiration for the Harry Potter adventures from the Forest's enchanting & mystical atmosphere. It is only a 2.5 mile drive from Heathrow. A 20 minute drive to the beautiful Wye Valley (ANOB).
This is a quirky/rustic property with loads of character and most of all VERY relaxing and romantic.
Most of the accommodation is on the ground floor. The open plan lounge/dining area measures 31' x 16' and has very high pine-pannelled ceilings. It has a woodburning stove (along with oil central heating), sash windows, a gothic chandelier, and many homely features; it has mostly original wood floors throughout. There is a 42" flat screen TV with freeview, a DVD recorder, CD player plus numerous videos/DVDs, books and games/puzzles.
The kitchen is small, but very well equipped and has a Bosch oven, hob, Miele dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave/combination oven.
The large utility area to the rear houses a washing machine and tumble drier.
A pine staircase off the lounge takes you up to the galleried bedroom which overlooks the lounge. You can choose to curtain off this area if necessary for privacy. The ceilings here are also highly pitched, with pine roof timbers.
The bathroom is quite spacious has a walk-in shower, washhand basin, bath, toilet and bidet.
To the the rear of the property is a small courtyard garden with a table/6 chairs. There are also 4 outdoor recliner chairs.
If you are looking for peace, tranquility and 'nature on your doorstep', this is the place to be. The Old Chapel instils a feeling of peace and tranquility, especially at night with the log burner going and candles lit. We love this place! Hope you do too!
A welcome pack is provided, along with decorations at Christmas.

Offa's Dyke Path, while not being the longest of the National Trails, is the most attractive and varied of them. The route crosses high wild moorland, attractive, well cultivated wide river valleys and ancient woodland. It passes through historic towns and isolated hamlets. En route can be seen hill forts, castles, abbeys and surviving remains of the habitations of former occupants of the beautiful corridor of the path. The flora and fauna are as rich and as varied as the scenery. At the halfway point in Knighton is the Offa's Dyke Centre with its Interactive Exhibition for the Dyke and a range of services for walkers.
The management of the fabric of the National Trail is co-ordinated by the Offa's Dyke Path Officer (not the Offa's Dyke
More than half of the reserve is oak woodland that was planted nearly 200 years ago. Originally intended to provide naval timber, this woodland is now managed, in partnership by the Forestry Commission and RSPB, solely for its conservation and landscape value. The rest of the reserve is made up of conifer woodland, scrub, open areas, ponds and streams. The woodland is beautiful all year round, but Nagshead is at its best in spring. Wander along the trails looking for pied flycatchers and watch the sky for buzzards. In winter, look for flocks of crossbills and hawfinches. The reserve and hides are open all year. The visitor centre is open from 10am to 5pm at weekends during the summer.
It is a 2.5 hour drive from London Heathrow, a one hour drive from Birmingham and Cardiff and a one hour drive to Cheltenham and Bath. It is a 12 mile drive from the Severn Bridge on the M4.

"What a beautiful house, we wish we could live here! Thank you for thinking of every little thing we could possibly need to have a lovely break. The wood burning stove was very popular and the scores of candles made for just the cosy, romantic break we wanted in a cold British winter. I can't say enough about the tasteful, perfect finishes to all. We will be sorry to go home, but will definitely recommend to friends and family.
" - Neil
"The perfect romantic setting to remind us how fantastic our uninterruped company is. The cottage is beautiful... a cosy blanket and the wood-burning fire helped us to escape the hustle and bustle of our hectic everyday lives. Thank you for a wonderful time. See you again soon. " - Paul & Nicola
