St Cuby - 5 Star Clifftop Apartment with Stunning Sea Views
Apartment with 2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 4
Fabulously refurbished in Art Deco style, St Cuby is located in an idyllic, much sought after clifftop location just one minute's walk to a lovely secluded beach. It is a very famous character building steeped in history, well known as the place where John Buchan wrote the famous spy novel The 39 Steps.
The large balcony of this contemporary and comfortable first floor apartment is perfect for al fresco dining (or just relaxing!) and has magnificent, panoramic views over the coastline and English Channel, as do most of the rooms.
The 39 Steps has been made into 3 different films, the first directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and it is now a hugely successful London and Broadway stage play. It is currently being filmed by the BBC for a Christmas showing, starring Rupert Penry-Jones of Spooks fame. You go down the steps straight to the beach, where, in the book, the ship Ariadne was waiting to take the spies to safey.
St Cuby, awarded 5 Stars by Visit Britain, is spacious, light and airy, with French Doors opening from the fully furnished lounge onto the balcony for al fresco dining, and of course, taking in that glorious view! The lounge has film posters on display, together with original film stills and signed photos of the stars of the first film so you can really get into the marvellous atmosphere of the early Deco and film era.
The fully fitted kitchen is extremely well equipped and includes a washer/dryer as well as a dishwasher, microwave/grill, fridge/freezer, oven and hob. Also provided for your convenience is a food processor, juicer, picnic set and rug, coolbox and flask.
The bedrooms have spectacular, panoramic views of the coastline and English Channel through double aspect corner windows, which flood the rooms with light. Watch the sunrise as you take a morning cup of tea or coffee while leafing through the brochures provided to plan your day.
With one double and one adult size bunk beds room, it is ideal for adults and families alike, with several beaches nearby (many award winning), and plenty to to do and see, including trips to the infamous Goodwin Sands, and smugglers' caves. North Foreland all year round golf course is just a 4 minute drive away.
Broadstairs town centre is a 3 minute drive away with all its amenities, and you really will be spoilt for choice with the number of pubs, cafes, restaurants and bistros on offer, some with a distinctly continental feel. Or why not wander along the clifftop to the Captain Digby, an award winning family pub/restaurant with an extensive menu.

Local activities in and around Broadstairs, South East
Kent, the garden of England, has much to offer, but the Thanet coastline incorporating Broadstairs is special - nearly 26 miles of it! It has a mild maritime climate, with higher tempertures than the national average. In fact, in June 2008 Thanet was named as the jewel in England's coastal crown, with a record number of Blue Flag awards.
The motto on Broadstairs' town crest - "stella maris" - means Star of the Sea, and it's an apt description. Broadstairs was voted one of the best coastal towns in England second only to St Ives, by the readers of the Guardian newspaper in 2007. Not just because of its watersports and award winning, beautiful sandy beaches, including Joss Bay for surfing, and Viking Bay with plenty of children's amusements, and several other bays, but also because it really is very charming, with little streets, shops and fishermen's cottages all jostling happily together. Discover the Viking Coastal Trail and the intriguing history of Broadstairs' smugglers. Why not take a boat trip to discover their caves, and to the infamous Goodwin Sands which have wrecked many a fine ship? You can also take a wildlife boat tour and see seals basking on the Sands. Children will enjoy the Rock Doc walk, and if you like birds and wildlife, you'll love nearby Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve.
For history buffs, there is the RAF Manston History Museum, which has aircraft and exhibits illustrating the history of the airfield, also the RAF Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Trust and Battle of Britain Memorial Museum. There is much maritime history to discover - and St Cuby is very close to the last manned lighthouse in the UK.
Charles Dickens loved and lived in Broadstairs in Bleak House - you can visit the fascinating Dickens House Museum and see the Old Curiosity Shop. Come to the Dickens Festival in June, Folk Week In August and the free fireworks and music in summer. Enjoy!
