Ravenscraig Cottage, Plockton. - Highland Cottage with Mountain and Sea Views
Cottage with 4 Bedrooms, Sleeps 8, Garden
Large unique cottage, traditional in style, with great Highland character. Close to the beautiful old village of Plockton, famous for its sailing, seal trips, and Scottish traditional music pub sessions.
Ravenscraig Cottage is in an elevated and secluded position, set in its own woodlands overlooking Loch Carron with wonderful views towards the Applecross hills and the famous Bealach, the highest road in Britain. Feature windows ensure all-round views, with the loch and hills to the front and serene woodland to the rear.
Ravenscraig Cottage is ideal for bird-watchers and wildlife enthusiasts - this area is home to the pine marten, Europe's rarest mammal, and you may even be lucky enough to see a red deer!
The whole area is a paradise for walkers and climbers. The Five Sisters of Kintail and the Cuillins of Skye, within easy reach, are just two local attractions.
The famous Kyle railway line runs nearby. You may see herons from the train, or Highland cows.
Ravenscraig Cottage is split-level over three storeys with a large open-plan lounge, dining area and kitchen, and has a light and spacious feel with stunning views. Whatever the weather, the views are captivating, with the light patterns on the hills and water constantly changing the scenery and you often see rainbows. Photographers, artists and those just wishing for tranquillity will love it.
It is set amongst trees, with a woodland path winding up through the forest to a covered viewing platform way above the cottage. There you can watch out for wildlife and you will feel at one with Nature.
The cottage, with its large open log fire in a feature fireplace, and central heating, welcomes you all-year round. Leading out from the lounge, the decked terrace commands fine views across the loch and Eilean Creag Dubh, the heron sanctuary. Enjoy a barbecue on the terrace.
A short path past the wood-store links the end terrace to a secluded decked area to the rear, where you can relax in privacy by the pond.
Or you can go jogging down to the coral beach through the rare breeds farm, but please do not disturb the llamas! You may see an otter fishing, or an eagle soaring high above the Crags, which rise several hundred feet above the loch.
There are two double bedrooms, both spacious, one with extensive feature windows looking onto the serene woodland at the back and the loch at the front, the other also with woodland views and elevated view of the loch. There are also two twin rooms, one with woodland views and interconnecting bathroom, the other is particularly suitable for children. The main bathroom has a bath and shower.
The downstairs area has a secure storage room for outdoor clothes, bikes, sports equipment, etc, with a radiator, and shower room. The utility room has a washing machine and tumble dryer.
The kitchen is equipped with dishwasher, oven and microwave, fridge and freezer.
