La Fournil is an old bakehouse which has been lovingly restored and includes a wealth of character and original features with honey coloured stonework, oak beams and vaulted ceilings with exposed timbers. It is one of an ensemble of beautiful old farm buildings dating back to the 16th century and forms part of La Ferme de La Tour. With a large chlorine free pool and surrounded by magnificent countryside, a network of pretty footpaths and a neighbouring historical chateau, it is a perfect base from which to explore the Dordogne and Lot.
The breathtaking valley views and surrounding grounds of woodlands and meadows will overwhelm you with a feeling of peace and tranquillity disturbed only by the abundance of wildlife and the occasional distant tractor. The pool, which is bathed in sunshine from dawn to dusk, is perfectly sited to maximise the views, enabling you to relax and admire the ever changing colours of the Dordogne valley.
Le Fournil, which is currently undergoing renovation for completion by early April 2009, offers accommodation for two to three people in immaculately presented accommodation providing the conveniences of a modern home in a superb old building full of charm.
The living area has stunning views over the garden and Dordogne valley beyond, through fully glazed French doors. The ceiling is vaulted with beautifully crafted oak timbers. The walls have exposed honey coloured stonework and the floor is tiled. The sofa and armchair are sumptuous and comfortable with throws and cushions, side tables and table lamps. The television receives Sky satellite TV along with a DVD and CD player. The French doors give access to a large south facing terrace area with barbecue, patio furniture and wonderful views . There is a dining table and chairs and a staircase giving access to a lovely galleried landing on the first floor which overlooks the lounge area and gives access to the bedroom.
The romantic bedroom has a double bed, stunning exposed beams in a vaulted ceiling, polished chestnut floors and a velux roof window which gives the room a lovely sunny aspect. The bedroom is large enough for a cot if required.
The heavily beamed kitchen with a window overlooking a pretty courtyard, is fully equipped with plenty of worktop area, fitted units and all the accessories you may need during your stay. There is a washing machine, cooker, hob, extractor fan, microwave, fridge, freezer and toaster,
The shower room, with heavily beamed ceiling, has a shower, toilet and hand basin.

Situated within the hamlet of La Tour we are two minutes from the pretty village of Sainte Nathalene with a hotel bar restaurants and a small shop. Just 7 miles from the historical town of Sarlat-la Caneda, with more listed buildings than any other town in Europe and a twice weekly market, we are perfectly placed to access all of the most beautiful sites in Dordogne and Lot.
The area is a walkers paradise. Hundreds of footpaths weave there way throughout the area with superb countryside and views along the way. Information and maps are available on request.
There are numerous chateaux to visit, caves to explore and pretty market towns to meander through. There is also a wide range of outdoor activities for all ages close by. These include hot air balloon trips, canoeing down the Dordogne (an absolute must) air parks, cycling, quad biking, para gliding, water parks, paint ball, karting, horse riding, walking, wine tasting trips, etc etc.
For those that want to sample the local wine or just want a relaxed evening, leaving the car behind, then transport can be arranged in and out of Sarlat or any other local villages.
Sarlat is a town not to be missed during a visit to Dordogne. The town, with a truly relaxed and laid back atmosphere is the jewel of Perigord Noir and is arguably the gastronomic capital of Dordogne. The medieval buildings that fill the town are the perfect backdrop for the large colourful market, full of local fruit and vegetables and all the gastronomic delights of the area, not to mention all the nik naks you would expect to find at a market of this magnitude.
The restaurants, cafes and bars offer a superb choice to suit all your needs. There is a regular array of street entertainment which you can enjoy whilst dining on a warm sunny evening or whilst sitting enjoying a coffee and watching the world go by during the day..

Rental Notes: Our change over days are Saturdays unless by prior arrangement.
Our rental price includes:- all bed linen, hand and bath towels, heating, gas, electricity, local taxes and cleaning.
A meal can be provided for your arrival. Available by prior arrangement.
Pool towels are available to rent at 5 euros per person and are issued for the duration of your holiday.
A damage deposit is required which will be refunded in full within seven days of your departure, unless the accomodation or it's contents are damaged or the accomodation is left in a condition that necessitates extra cleaning time to return it to the high standard in which it is presented.
