Place du Casteillas - Stone house in Circulade Village
House with 3 Bedrooms, Sleeps 6, Garden, Swimming Pool
On a hill of Bas-Razès, nestled in a valley of vines, in the real Cathar country, this is the sunniest (300 days a year) and warmest region of France.
It is a restored stone built house originally part of the fortified castle walls (over 1000 years old), now with three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen dinning room and spacious lounge with working fireplace. There is an enclosed private large courtyard garden for relaxing and outside dining and also a superb roof terrace and sun lounge with stunning views across the vineyards. A outside Jacuzzi that seats 4 is useable from May to October.
There is lots to see locally including Carcassonne, la Cité, Abbeys, Cathar Castles , Grottos, Museums, The Canal du Midi, Hot spring baths .The Pyrenees and the Mediterranean beaches are within easy reach while a visit to Figueras (Dali museum),Spain and the Costa Brava or a shopping trip to Andorra offer alternatives for a day out.
Over 1000 years old Donazac has houses and a fortified church around a place which was originally a circular castle (the casteillas). The last occupant was the lord of Barry.
The house has a large kitchen / dining room which is fully equipped for inside cooking and dining as well as an outside dining table in the courtyard for eating lunch or dinner. Shade is provided by a fig tree which shelters the heated Jacuzzi and by Parasols. An outside gas barbeque is provided.
You can have a fire in the large fireplace in the Lounge - this is large and comfortably furnished room with ample seating ( 2 sofas and armchairs ) and english TV.
Stairs lead to an open plan office / library / dressing area with two double bedrooms leading off. One bedroom has an ensuite bath, shower and toilet and there is a large family shower room with WC. Finally you find a sunroom which overlooks the roof terrace (views across the village and the surrounding vineyards). There is another double bedroom on this floor.
The house is fully refurbished with double glazing, masses of country character and full electric central heating in every room. Because the walls are very thick the house stays comfortably cool even on the hottest summer days.
All the rooms have shutters to allow a cool breeze whist keeping the heat of the sun out.
