Villa Giorgos is a comfortable, peaceful and private retreat on the forested outskirts of the charming traditional village of Gavalohori. The newly built villa has dramatic views of Souda Bay, Aptera Fort, The Akrotiri Peninsula, acres of olive and cypress trees, and the spectacular White Mountains. All of the villa’s bedrooms and living areas lead out to balconies and terraces to enjoy these views.
Hidden away on a hillside at the end of a short private track above a ravine, and surrounded on 3 sides by a forest of tall cypress trees, both the villa and the very private pool terrace, are very secluded and yet only 4 minutes away by car from the pretty coastal village of Almyrida with its sandy beaches and many amenities.
For larger families or parties with more than 6 persons, the villa is partially joined to a mirror image second villa that can be rented for an additional cost, but this will otherwise remain un-occupied, thus ensuring your privacy.

Villa Giorgos is modern, comfortably furnished and well equipped with everything needed for a relaxing vacation including satellite TV, DVD and CD players, a fully equipped kitchen, a BBQ, and air conditioning units throughout. The a/c units also double up as heaters, and there is central heating for the cooler nights early and late season. The thoughtful Greek owners have supplied large pool/beach towels so that you will not have to bring these with you. The villa has many typically Cretan touches such as local cypress wood for the interior staircase, the doors, the tilt and turn windows which provide a constant through breeze, the shutters and pergolas. The bedroom furniture, including the built-in wardrobes and vanity units, and the kitchen cabinets have also been made from this matching warm wood. Natural local stone has been used in abundance on this lovely property which includes a private parking area.
The large swimming pool is on its own terrace set above and behind the villa. Surrounded by a low stone wall and tall trees, including cypress, olive and carob, the pool area is very private and peaceful where the only sounds you are likely to hear are the birds singing or the tinkling of bells from nearby sheep. There are many raised flowerbeds which are planted with an abundance of shrubs including magnolia trees, roses, margaritas, different coloured daisies, and hydrangea. The living room and bedrooms all lead out to balconies and terraces which have a choice of sun or shade and are equipped with tables, chairs and umbrellas so that you may relax with a meal or a drink whilst taking in the glorious views down the valley to the sea.
Villa Giorgos has a unique countrified location with no immediate neighbours – just 1 semi occupied villa a few hundred metres away on the on the far side of a ravine. It should therefore appeal to the escapists amongst you who value comfort and seclusion, whilst being just minutes from beaches, tavernas and shops.

1 Double Bedroom, 1 Twin Bedroom, 1 Single Bedroom. There is sleeping for 5 persons in the bedrooms and an extra person can be accommodated on a fold-out bed in the lounge. Additional bedrooms are available in the villa annexe for an additional fee.

1 Shower, 1 Separate WC. The upstairs modern shower room is fully tiled and houses the washing machine. There is an additional fully tiled modern cloakroom on the ground floor.

Maid Service, Air Conditioning, House Linen, Towels Provided. The villa has full A/C, the use of which is included in the rental rates. We offer a free Maid Service for the weekly change of bed linen and 2 x weekly change of towels. There are pool/beach towels.

Seating for 6. There are both indoor and outdoor dining areas with a choice of sun or shade. All are equipped with dining tables and chairs, or benches. The pool side dining area includes a large built-in barbeque.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System. Some tavernas have traditional Cretan entertainment and music nights on occasion throughout the season. A nearby hotel has a bowling alley and tennis, and there is an excellent water park near Chania.

Private Pool, Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. There are many well furnished sitting out areas to choose from including the front balconies with excellent sea and mountain views or the very private pool terrace which has sun-beds and umbrellas.

The parking area is on the same level as the villa's living area. There are 10 steps from the villa to the pool terrace, and 17 steps from the ground floor to the first floor.
Local activities in and around Gavalohori, Crete
Gavalohori is a pretty traditional village with 2 tavernas and 2 mini markets on the main square. The nearby beach at Almyrida is shallow and safe, has watersports, and is lined with many shops, cafe/bars, taveranas, and the Villas Crete Holidays Tourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles.
A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a variety of archaeological sites and quaint villages, and an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 30 minutes away by car.
With its stunning Venetian harbour, quayside bars and restaurants, what better place to relax and watch the world go by. In the narrow streets behind the harbour you will find tavernas, bars, the famous covered market, and many local shops selling handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and hand made ceramics. Visit 'Leather Lane' for outstanding hand made leather bargains.
Crete has everything you that could possibly want from a holiday: passionately friendly local people, soaring mountains that are snow capped in the winter, great walking trails including Europe's deepest gorge, ancient archaeological sites and Minoan palaces, sparkling clear blue seas with tavernas serving freshly caught fish, golden beaches, glorious wild flowers in the Spring, and a variety of delicious foods which are made from healthy home grown produce.
Cooking classes and wine tasting are available as are guided walks led by experts in mountaineering, fauna and flora. For those of you who prefer to venture out on your own, a free copy of "Crete on the Road" by Frankie Miles comes with every villa. The book contains detailed directions to many well known and hidden sites, opening times and entrance fees, taverna recommendations, and the only existing map of the National Highway showing the exits and entrances.
The villa is an easy 30 minute drive from Chania Airport.
Many other flight options are available from Heraklion Airport which is a 110 minute drive along the pretty coastal highway.
