We are the exclusive agents for Villa Christina which is one of our most popular villas for a myriad of reasons, not least of which is that it is outstanding value for money. The villa was built and finished to very high standard by its welcoming owners, Christina and Stavros, who live in another part of the village. Always warm, but never intrusive, they are the epitome of Greek hospitality. Despite being only 3 minutes by foot to the shops and excellent tavernas on the main square in Plaka, Villa Christina has the feel of a more rural location due in part to the large, mature garden and high hedge which surround the villa and swimming pool. The sandy beaches in Almyrida are only 1.3km away.
Set on the top of a hill, beautiful views of Souda Bay, The White Mountains, Aptera Castle, the Akrotiri Peninsula and the village, can be seen from the villa’s many terraces. There is ample outdoor furniture on all the terraces and by the pool, including sun-beds, umbrellas, tables and chairs.
Villa Christina's stylish modern interior is very spacious, and has been designed to easily cope with Crete’s long hot summers. The marble stairwell, beautiful floor tiles, covered terraces, and traditional Cretan wooden furniture all help to this effect, as do the many terraces which provide a choice of sun or shade. The lovely lights throughout the villa were handmade at the local glass blowing factory in Kokkino Horio. Many modern comforts have been provided for including: a fully fitted, very well equipped kitchen which includes: a ceramic hob, built-in oven, a microwave oven, and a dishwasher; a utility cupboard with a washing machine; a TV, and a DVD player in the lounge; aluminium doors, window frames and shutters; and air conditioning units in all the bedrooms and the living room. The a/c units also double up as heaters for the cooler nights at the start and end of the season. The water is heated by either solar panel or a back-up immersion heater.
All around the property are flowerbeds which have been planted with a variety of different plants including roses, geraniums, bougainvillea, morning glory, oleander and gerber daisies. There is a lawn with BBQ and a large area of pampus grass, and there are many trees including, conifers, palms, yucca and almond. Just next to the pool terrace is a large shady carob tree with a table and chairs which is the perfect place to relax on a hot summer’s day.
The main square with shops and tavernas in Plaka is only 150m from Villa Christina and is still the focal point of village life. There are lovely shady mulberry trees under which the locals sit to watch the world go by whilst enjoying a delicious meal or an ice cold frappe. Plaka was one of the original village sets for the film “Zorba the Greek” and it still has quaint whitewashed houses and narrow streets.
All in all, Villa Christina is the perfect place for either families or couples to enjoy a wonderful, relaxing holiday with beautiful scenery.

Bedrooms:
1 Double Bedroom, 2 Twin Bedrooms. The spacious bedrooms all have windows and balconies with views over the pool to the sea. An extra fold-out bed can be put into any of the bedrooms or the lounge. 1 of the twin bedrooms is downstairs.
Bathrooms:
1 Bathroom, 1 Shower. The large upstairs fully tiled bathroom features a corner bath with shower attachment. The fully tiled shower room is en-suite to the downstairs twin bedroom which is just 3 steps up from the lounge.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with all possible appliances. A door leads out to the garden, a dining terrace with a bougainvillea covered pergola, and a ramp which leads to the pool terrace.

Maid Service, Air Conditioning, House Linen, Towels Provided. The villa has full A/C, the use of which is included in the rental rates. We offer a free welcome pack, guide book and Maid Service for the weekly change of bed linen and 2 x weekly change of towels.
Dining:
Seating for 8. There is indoor or outdoor dining at Villa Christina. The kitchen, the front terrace and the carob shaded pool terrace have dining tables + chairs and the upstairs balcony has a coffee table + chairs.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, DVD, Radio, CD System. Some tavernas have traditional Cretan entertainment and music nights on occasion throughout the season. A nearby hotel has a bowling alley and tennis, and there is an excellent water park near Chania.

The large garden is perfect for children to play in. There is a choice of 8 steps or a ramp from the parking area and pool/garden into the villa, making it ideal for the elderly or less abled.
Local activities in and around Plaka, Crete
Plaka is a pretty village with tavernas, cafes and mini-markets on the mulberry tree lined main square. The nearby beach at Almyrida is shallow and safe, has watersports, and is lined with many shops, cafe/bars, taveranas, and the Villas Crete Holidays Tourist office that is owned and run by Frankie Miles.
A few minutes by car from the villa, there are a variety of archaeological sites and quaint villages, and an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 30 minutes away by car.
With its stunning Venetian harbour, quayside bars and restaurants, what better place to relax and watch the world go by. In the narrow streets behind the harbour you will find tavernas, bars, the famous covered market, and many local shops selling handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and hand made ceramics. Visit 'Leather Lane' for outstanding hand made leather bargains.
Crete has everything you that could possibly want from a holiday: passionately friendly local people, soaring mountains that are snow capped in the winter, great walking trails including Europe's deepest gorge, ancient archaeological sites and Minoan palaces, sparkling clear blue seas with tavernas serving freshly caught fish, golden beaches, glorious wild flowers in the Spring, and a variety of delicious foods which are made from healthy home grown produce.
Cooking classes and wine tasting are available as are guided walks led by experts in mountaineering, fauna and flora. For those of you who prefer to venture out on your own, a free copy of "Crete on the Road" by Frankie Miles comes with every villa. The book contains detailed directions to many well known and hidden sites, opening times and entrance fees, taverna recommendations, and the only existing map of the National Highway showing the exits and entrances.
Villa Christina is an easy 35 minute drive from Chania Airport.
Many other flight options are available from Heraklion Airport which is a 105 minute drive along the pretty coastal highway.
