4-star apartment on two levels in Doussard, at the southern end of beautiful Lac d'Annecy. Excellent supermarket, bank, local shops, Brasserie El Kemao and Bar de Quatre Chemins are less than 5 minutes walk. Convenient by car for Annecy and Albertville, for summer activities around the lake and beyond, and for several Ski-Stations.
Enquire about your preferred dates as rentals vary for different weeks (generally cheaper September-May, with discounts for longer stays).

4* apartment on two levels in Doussard, at the southern end of beautiful Lac d'Annecy. Finished in Spring 2003, it sleeps 6 or even 8: Bedroom 1- UK king size bed Bedroom 2- double (mezzanine) Bedroom 3- bunks. Sofa-bed. Equipped to a very high standard. Large balcony; view to Mt Charbon; garage.
The first level comprises a Kitchen and Living/Dining area leading to the balcony; Double Bedroom 1 with 150cm bed and access to the balcony. Bathroom (bath with shower); separate toilet; and laundry.
Two staircases from the living area lead to a mezzanine double (140cm) bedroom; and to Bedroom 3 with bunk beds. Appt 1 was awarded 4 stars based on sleeping 6, but the sofa in the living area converts into a full-size double bed, so it's possible to sleep up to 8 in total. The balcony is big enough for eating outdoors during the warm weather.
The apartment is designed in the traditional alpine style including sloping ceilings and exposed beams. The kitchen area includes an oven/grill and hob, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave oven and a Bosch dishwasher. It's well equipped with crockery, pots and pans etc. The laundry, if you wish to use it, has an automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, airer, iron and ironing board. Electricity for cooking and heating is included during summer rentals; bedlinen and bathroom towels are provided for a fee to cover the cost of laundry, including a 'standard' after-stay clean. (We trust clients to leave the apartment tidy, but you don't have to mop the floors etc!) A comprehensive tidy and clean can be arranged for a modest fee. There is a secure garage, and underground heating prevents its access from icing in winter; also parking nearby.
Rentals are from Saturday at 1600 until Saturday at 1000. In winter, late bookings for the weekend are possible (for bookings within a month of arrival). We look forward to hearing from you, and hope you will enjoy your stay.

Dining:
Indoor dining table with 6 chairs, patio dining table and another 6 chairs can be used outdoors or indoors.
Entertainment:
Terrestrial TV, Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. English-language Satellite TV with around 30 channels including BBC, ITV, CNN, kids' channels, music, news etc.
Outside:
Garden Furniture. Large Balcony; 2 Deck Chairs; secure basement garage; three bicycles that you are welcome to use (at your own risk).

Local activities in and around Annecy, Rhone Alps
Doussard has many facilities - good food shops, summer market on Monday mornings; bars and places to eat. In Winter, it's convenient for several ski-stations.
The apartment is only a few minutes from the beach & port at Bout du Lac/Doussard. May-Sept a water bus leaves three times daily for Annecy, for shopping, restaurants, history and theatre. By car Annecy is 25 minutes along the west side of the lake, and not much longer along the east side. (You can cycle between Doussard and Annecy on a dedicated cycle piste) As well as water sports on the lake, you can hang-glide with an instructor from Col de la Forclaz, above Talloires.
We are halfway between spectacular golf courses at Golf du lac d'Annecy (tel +33 4 50 60 12 89), and the 9 & 18-hole courses at Golf de Giez, near the Tour de France route in 2004 and with views of Mont Blanc and Lac d'Annecy. Each is about ten minutes away.
Thônes is a charming market town 30 minutes to the east with excellent value restaurants and bars around its town square, and with speciality shops. The winter resort of La Clusaz is only 10-15 minutes further, with spectacular views and one of its cable cars leading to a summer luge.
Other ski resorts including Les Saisies and Megève are reachable. Also Courchevel, via the Winter Olympic centre at Albertville that is 25 minutes to the south. Chamonix is around an hour by motorway from Annecy, leading to the Mont Blanc Tunnel into Italy, so you can have lunch in Italy and be home for dinner. L’Aigue du Midi is a spectacular platform including a shop and restaurant near the summit of Mont Blanc, accessible from Chamonix by cable car. The highest point in Europe that's accessible without having to climb!
Geneva, with its fashionable shopping and jet de l’eau on Lac Leman, is about an hour from Annecy. On another day, you can have lunch in Geneva or in one of the resorts along Lac Leman, and (again) be home in time for dinner. France, Italy and Switzerland in 2 days!

Whether you are travelling from Scotland, the North, Midlands or South of England or from Wales, you can reach Appartement 1 easily by road (by Autoroute most of the way) or by air, particularly via Geneva. The following links take you to popular sites for ferries, Eurotunnel, flights and car rental. If you arrive via Geneva, you can rent a car for the 40 miles to Doussard; alternatively there are regular train services from Geneva Airport into the city, then by coach from Geneva to Annecy Station, and finally the Annecy Station-Albertville coach service passes close to Appartement 1.

Important Information about Health Insurance for UK Residents Visiting France
As a result of recent changes to European law you now need a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for publically available healthcare in countries where the UK has reciprocal agreements. (It replaces the old E111 form, and therefore it is NOT a substitute for Travel Insurance that is much more comprehensive). Nevertheless, if you do not have an EHIC already, you should visit the UK Dept of Health web site (Search for E111) for the latest information, including how to get one.

Alternatively a comprehensive tidy and clean can be arranged for a fee. In winter a flat rate charge covers the costs of electricity. Discounts are available for off-peak rentals of 4 weeks or more.
In the few years since it was built, Residence les Gentianes has rented quickly for the popular holiday periods so we recommend booking early if possible to avoid disappointment. (You can check availability on this site).
In winter, late bookings for just the weekend are possible (for bookings made within a month of arrival).
