A spacious 7-bedroomed house surrounded by panoramic views of the rolling Normandy countryside. Situated on the edge of the delightful village of Saint Evroult Notre Dame du Bois, with its boating lake, beach, tennis courts, restaurants and ancient Abbey ruins.
The property was built in the mid-19th Century at the height of the local Camembert industry. It still retains a beautiful old Fromagerie in the grounds, (the only surviving example in the region), and is surrounded by Dairy Farming. A grant has now been awarded for the restoration of the fromagerie. It is hoped that this will provided a fully equipped games building in the short term and a self contained gite for up to 6 in the longer term.

Set in approximately 1 acre, the house benefits from having no immediate neigbours, whilst still being conveniently located for access to the local boulangerie in the mornings!
The house is set over 3 floors, with a large Lounge, Dining Room and Kitchen on the ground floor providing plenty of room for entertaining, and all rooms in the house are double-aspect, making the most of the delightful views. The modern kitchen has proved very popular with guests who've described it as 'fabulously sociable'.
There are 5 large double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms, a large bathroom with roll-top bath and shower, and on the top floor a further bathroom with shower. There is a further cloakroom on the ground floor.
This is a perfect base for exploring the wide range of activities on offer on the edge of the Suisse-Normand, everything from Mountain Biking, Horseriding, Canoing, Go karting and golf are available nearby, with the region characterised by rolling landscapes and numerous villages and towns to discover. Many of these have excellent and affordable restaurants and bars to visit too.
With the beach, Rouen and Paris all within an hour's journey, there is no limit to the opportunities on offer from a stay at this magnificent rural idyll.
In keeping with the history of the house a range of local products, many organic, are available for purchase from La Poterie, including cider, poire, honey and pates.
Tailor-made murder mystery experiences are available to make your stay at La Poterie even more memorable.
We can also provide the extremely popular Gourmet Meal service, whereby a 5 course meal of french cuisine, eg lobster, venison, foi gras is delivered to the house for you to enjoy. Please contact us for further details or check out the menu options on our website.

Facilities for this holiday house in L'Aigle, Normandy
5 Double Bedrooms, 2 Twin Bedrooms. All the bedrooms are spacious with double-aspect views over the surrounding countryside and have sufficient space for a cot / campbed. Antique beds, new mattresses and embroidered bed linen abound.
Bathrooms:
1 Bathroom, 1 Shower, 1 Separate WC. The main bathroom has a luxurious roll-top bath (with shower) in the middle of the room to make the most of the double-aspect views.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. The modern kitchen features a central island unit and has plenty of space to prepare delicious french cuisine. The ' fabulously sociable' kitchen has proved popular with previous guests.
General:
Real Fire, Central Heating, Telephone, House Linen. Catering available on request. Baby facilities, including cot(s), high chairs, play pen and bath support are available. Playstation 1 and good selection of games, books, DVD's and videos available.
Dining:
A cosy fire complements the paneling, ornate cornicing and ceiling rose while 2 large oak dining tables can be arranged to suit the size of your party. Or dine alfresco at the large garden table
Entertainment:
Video, Radio, CD System, Board Games. We have a TV, DVD, video player and Playstation 1 available with a selection of DVDs and videos. A snooker table, darts, rackets, 2 swings, crocket, boules and mini table football are also available.
Outside:
Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. Explore the garden, play boules or enjoy alfresco eating under the shade of the parousel taking in the views. The garden swings, trampoline, paddling pool and toys cater for childrens needs.

Unfortunately due to the original twisting staircase the house isn't suitable for wheelchairs. However, hopefully the original fromagerie will provide wheelchair accessible accomodation in the future
Local activities in and around L'Aigle, Normandy
The area includes forests and lakes with activities for all the family. Just 10 minutes' drive from the town of L'Aigle, which has the 3rd largest market in France as well as all facilities including a large leisure centre with swimming pool. The house is just over 45 minutes drive from the gorgeous seaside resort of Deauville, an hour from the shops and nightlife of Rouen and just over an hour from Paris by train.
The picturesque lake in the village has a small beach, pedalos, swimming and fishing. Tennis, table tennis and minigolf are also available in addition to the numerous opportunities for walking, cycling and horseriding in the Forest.
In addition to the two restaurants in the village, excellent restaurants are also available in neighbouring villages.
The area boasts several beautiful chateux, including the Haras du Pin national stud, where tours and weekly processions can be enjoyed. The village of Camembert and its museum are only a short drive away, as are several fetes, zoo's and nature parks, an equestrian centre and a leisure complex.
