In the hamlet of L’Etelley, this is the perfect setting for both winter and summer holidays. 260km of superb skiing in the Grand Massif. In the summer there are many activities, including stunning walks, rafting, paragliding, horse riding and more.
Chalet Criou has superb views of the Valée du Giffre, 4 double bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, mezzanine, large living room with fire, fully fitted kitchen and laundry. Large balcony, heated pool and garden.
The chalet is located just 1km from the telecabines, the navette bus stop is just 50m away. The area is linked to Flaine and the other villages of the Grand Massif ski area and together they have 77 lifts serving 265km of piste. It is also possible to do heli-skiing, parapenting, ice-skating & dog sleigh rides.
In designing the chalet our main aim has been to ensure that it is comfortably fitted, warm and cosy. We hope that people will return from a day in the mountains and find that they are living in a really relaxing home. The rooms are very spacious, well furnished and all have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
The beautiful old village of Samoëns has been a ski resort since 1912 and is the only one in France to be listed as a historical monument, it is also a "village fleurie”. The flowers that adorn the houses in Samoëns and the nearby villages in summer are quite lovely. In winter the flowers seem to be replaced by fairy lights and life size Father Christmas’s climbing up assorted ladders, chimneys, etc!
Samoëns is only a couple of minutes drive from the chalet. Traditional-style bars and restaurants abound in what is a resort largely undiscovered by other nationalities. The variety of food available varies from a simple pizza to local Savoyard dishes, such as raclette and fondue and of course classic French.
The chalet is less than one hour’s drive from Geneva airport, or a 7 to 8 hours motorway drive from Calais
The ground floor has entrance hall with coat racks and door leading to the garage. Double bedroom with shower room. Utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
On the first floor there is a large living/dining room with doors leading out to veranda and balcony. Large comfortable settees and a pine table and chairs. There is a fire, satellite tv, video, and cd player. There is a supply of videos to watch. There is also a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom on the first floor and a seperate wc.
On the second floor there are two large twin bedrooms with doors leading to balcony. A large family bathroom and a mezzanine/5th bedroom which has a sofabed and satellite tv with video. This area works well for children to watch videos or play while the adults can relax in the sitting room.

1 Double Bedroom, 3 Twin Bedrooms. Double bedroom has ensuite bathroom. There is also a cot available and a z bed. There is a double sofabed on the mezzanine.

2 Bathrooms, 1 Shower, 1 Separate WC. Both bathrooms also have showers above baths with shower screens
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Iron. The washing machine and a seperate tumble dryer are in a separate utility room
General:
Real Fire, Central Heating, Maid Service, House Linen, Towels Provided. A cleaner can be arranged for an additional charge. All linen and towels are included.
Dining:
Seating for 10. The chalet is very well equiped for catering for large numbers. We also have a service available offering catered meals in the evening if you do not feel like cooking one or more evenings.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, Video, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games. There are many restaurants in both Samoens and Morillon serving everything from pizzas to local specialities.
Outside:
Private Pool, Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Balcony, Garden Furniture. The pool is open from June to the end of September.

It is possible to book a UK registered childminder to look after little ones. She can be booked from half a day to a whole week. She is also available for baby sitting
Local activities in and around Samoens, Rhone Alps
There are numerous activities, both summer and winter in this area. Winter days can be spent skiing but it is fun to break off for a change and go for a dog sleigh ride - the children will love it. As usual there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to take a break at whilst skiing, but also some rather unusual ones, such as that at Lac des Gers, accessed via snowmobile. The skiing is suitable for all levels, from the 5km (green) Marvel at Morillon 1100 to the Cascades a 14km run around Sixt Fer a Cheval nature reserve, one of the longest in Europe. There is easy free parking at the telecabines, or you can take the navette bus, which stops at all the telecabines. The ski areas all link up so you can go up one telecabine, back another and then take the navette back to your car or chalet.
In the evening it is possible to go into Samoens where the ice rink stays open. It is fun to go out for dinner and then finish off with a skate!
The villages of Samoens and Morillon have many restaurants and bars where you can buy anything from a pizza to local savoyard dishes. Both villages have markets selling both local produce and gifts. Samoens has plenty of shops to wonder round.
The alps are now very popular in the summer as there are just so many activities. In addition to the ones mentioned above are adventure parks. These are parks where you can go on zip lines, tight rope between trees, etc. They are mainly aimed at children and adults over eight but in Morillon they have two additional areas, one for children from 3 and another area for 8 - 16 year olds.
Horse riding is very popular and it is also possible to hire a donkey. These can be hired for as little as an hour to overnight. If you are planning a long walk in the mountains you can take the donkey with you to carry your gear.
For day trips there are the nearby towns of Chamonix, Annecy and Les Gets. It is also worth visiting Yvoire a small medieval village on Lac Leman.
The chalet is an extremely easy drive from Calais, being motorway the whole way to the bottom of the mountain and then it is an easy 20 minute drive up to the chalet - no horrible hair pin bends!

Continental breakfast daily; croissants, bread, jams, honey, nutella, cereals, boiled eggs, fresh fruit. Tea, coffee, fruit juices Afternoon teas laid out for your return from the slopes, daily; Cake of the day, a selection of hot drinks and squash. Evening meal on 6 nights of your stay: For children there is an option of high tea served at 6.30 that will be a two course menu agreed in advance with you.
We can cater for Vegetarians, and special diets on request.
Bread delivered to your door - should you not feel like going to the boulangerie in the morning then we can arrange for bread, croissant etc to be delivered to the chalet
