End of terraced house ideal for family holidays, located near five wonderful sandy beaches and woodlands. Popular off season as well for walkers, birdwatchers and golfers. The house has been well equipped to provide a comfortable stay at any time of year and in all weather. The village is the site of World famous Greco/Roman ruins of Empuries (a proposed UNESCO World Heritage Site) and only 1 mile from the important fishing village of L'Escala, where all amenities are located.

The house has two bedrooms : one double and one twin. The double bedroom has a small terrace with patio furniture and is overlooking fields - great for a "sundowner". The recently fitted bathroom has a shower over a full sized bath. The ground floor area is a lounge and kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is new and includes a cooker, ceramic hob, washing machine, fridge freezer,microwave oven, iron and ironing board. The lounge area is comfortably furnished with two sofa beds, coffee table, tv, vcr and cd player. There are ceiling fans in all rooms and a woodburning stove and radiators for winter use. The large outside patio is on two levels. The top level has patio furniture and a sun blind. Travel cot, high chair and stairgate available at no charge. The large lower patio is enclosed and so is suitable for toddlers. There is a barbecue and outside tap for washing off beach gear. The nearest beach is a mere two minutes safe walk. Steps up to door and in house, may be a problem for those with mobility problems. We have many regular guests who can offer references.

Local activities in and around L'Escala, Costa Brava/Catalonia
All watersports, horseriding, walking, quadbikes, birdwatching, sightseeing. The Empuries Greco/Roman museum and Motorcycle Museum are 500 yards from the house. Historic sites: the Dali Museums, Picasso's home, Mediaeval villages of Besalu, Pals, all suitable for half day excursions. Natural Park of Aiguamolls- famous birdwatching site - is 10 miles away. Eight golf courses are within 30 minutes drive. Historic Girona and Figueres are also about 30 minutes away. Volcanic Park of Garrotxa and Pyrenees are about 1 hour's drive. L'Escala has a lovely atmosphere. It is still typically Catalan, and highly rated throughout Spain. In high season there is a wide variety of visitors of different nationalities, many of whom have holiday homes there. In low season the visitors are predominantly Spanish and French. It is famous for its cuisine and has dozens of restaurants some of which offer daily menus costing as little as 7 euros for three courses plus wine. Regular free folk dancing (the Sardana) and singing of sea shanties held in summer on main beach of L'Escala, plus other types of musical entertainment. Weekly markets in L'Escala, Torroella, Rosas, Girona. Many local festivals reflecting the local life: Roman week, Salt Fiesta, Anchovy Fiesta, Saints' Days, Nativity, Carnival.
Empuries Museum
Fantastic Greco/Roman ruins still being investigated. Magnificent location for photographers. See the original salting house, mosaic floors and various articles alrady excavated and on display in the museum. Open air plays in season.
Aiguamolls Natural Park
Nr. Castello d'Empuries. Wonderful salt marshes and bridwatchingarea. Migration route. Bird hides and other wildlife observation points.
