The cottage is situated in beautiful Vendee countryside approximately an hours drive from the coast, and local airport of La Rochelle and Poitiers. Comfortably sleeping up to 4 adults the cottage has original beamed ceilings, two double bedrooms, which both have their own w.c. and bathroom or shower en suite. All windows are double glazed. Puy de Serre is a quiet typical French village within easy distance of Fontenay le Comte, Vouvent and Mervent.
The cottage sits within a large garden which enjoys open views across the countryside. The entry to the accommodation is through a small conservatory area in which is housed the washing machine.
Accommodation comprises of: Living room with beamed ceiling offering a comfortable seating area around a wood burning fire, television with "free to view BBC channels". Dining area with full size dining table and kitchen area which is equipped with refrigerator, cooker (bottled gas) toaster, kettle, small electric oven for quick snacks, double sink and drainer and storage cupboards. Ample cutlery, crockery etc. is provided. Adjacent to the living area is the second bedroom with queen size (4ft) bed, easy chairs and wardrobe, with a shower room and separate w.c. off. Upstairs there is the main bedroom with beamed ceiling, full size double bed and wardrobe space with a bathroom/w.c. off.
The garden is bordered by shrubs and is predominantly lawned with paved seating areas, one for sun worshippers and a second situated beneath a veranda for when the sun is just too hot! Garden furniture is provided.

Local activities in and around Fontenay Le Comte, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
Within about an hours drive of the cottage you will find the Vendee coastline, Futuroscope (see link below, Parc Puy de Fou (see link below), and for shopaholics there is La Rochelle, which even for those not keen on shopping is a wonderful day out with plenty to see and numerous restaurants to relax and enjoy wonderful french cuisine.
Closer to home is Vouvent, a medieval town with river walks, and some wonderful old buildings and of course, bars and restaurants. Mervent is just a few minutes away and offers enjoyable forest walks, canoeing and fishing and even has a small beach with beachside cafe/bar. Mervent is also home to a zoo and a children's park with plenty of rides. There is also a horse riding centre and ample cycle hire locations for the more energetic.
lots to see, well worth a day out we have been and didn't have time to see everything, shows start promptly and are very good, lovely surroundings a really enjoyable day out however if you want to eat anytime other than "french" lunchtime (12 to 2) best to take a picnic.
Rental Notes: The rental price is based on up to 4 people sharing ( a discount of 10% is available for 2 people sharing) and includes all electric, gas and fuel for the wood burner. Bed Linen, blankets and pillows are provided, however guests will need to supply there own towels. Mid week arrival, departure bookings accepted.
Although we do not object to smokers, we do request that for the comfort of all our guests smokers refrain from smoking inside the cottage and take care to dispose of the cigarettes safely in the dustbin.
We would request that unless other arrangement are made at the time of booking, guests do not arrive at the property before 2.00 p.m. on the day of arrival and vacate the property by 10.00 a.m. on day of departure.

We will happily recommend your cottage to family and friends for the future. We rarely go back to the same place for holidays (its a big world!) However if we were ever to go back to the Vendee we would be sure to try and stay at your cottage.
