A traditional Victorian shooting lodge, accommodating up to 18+ adults or a family group comfortably (an additional 5 may be accommodated in the nearby cottage). This well equipped grand Highland house is set in 11,800 acres of deer forest with two lochs and rivers, a variety of wildlife, including golden eagles, an SSSI and access to its stunning remote valley of Glenuig. The house is suitable for children and teenagers having two games rooms. It is ideal for walking, gentle or advanced, covering four Munros, wildlife watching, fishing for trout or salmon and deer stalking, in either the stag or hind seasons. It also makes an ideal base for exploring the Highlands; being about an hour’s drive from Inverness and the airport in the east and under 40 minutes from the West coast and the Isle of Skye.

The Green room
The Lodge has one double, one single and nine twin bedrooms (one may be arranged as a double), and 6 bathrooms including one/two en suite. The drawing room and dining rooms are large. There is a rod and gun room, a drying room, a playroom with table tennis table, a pool table room and a children’s sitting room. There is a video player, a CD/tape/radio music player and free-to-air TV. The large kitchen has a double Aga, electric cooker, microwave, lots of fridges. a freezer, two dishwashers, washing machine and tumble dryer. The Lodge has electric heating throughout. There is a large, enclosed garden and adjacent wood with paths leading to the rest of the Estate.
Stalking: The Estate is home to around 500 hinds with a number of stags also in permanent residence and many more attracted in the rutting season. This lasts roughly from mid-September to mid-October and a few stags are available to be taken in July and August. Around 35-40 stags are culled each season. The estate is able to offer two 4 stag weeks and two 10 stag weeks for serious stalkers. In the 10 stag weeks, two parties can be taken out on the hill each day. Hind stalking is available on a daily or weekly basis from October to February.
For anglers, there are brown trout and sea trout and the chance of a salmon on 3km of the River Carron and Loch Sgamhain and trout in a further hill loch. A boat is available on Loch Sgamhain.
For lovers of wildlife, there are resident eagles, red grouse, ptarmigan, snipe, woodcock, mountain hare, pine martens, otters, badgers, foxes, red and roe deer and moles.
Travel: Between Easyjet and BA there are four or more flights a day to Inverness from London. The flight time is 1 hour and 10 minutes. Trains go to Inverness and connect to Achnasheen Station about 5 miles from the Estate. Car hire is available at Inverness.

Real Fire, Central Heating, Maid Service, Telephone, House Linen, Towels Provided, Internet Access. The 'Maid service' is not included, but by arrangement. Laundry charge of £5 per person for bed linen, £3 for towels if you want them supplied. Broadband access is available at a small extra charge.
Dining:
A splendid dining room, seating 18 with hatch through which a cook from the local agency - very reasonable rates - may serve you.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, Video, Radio, CD System, Table Tennis. There is also a pool table and a number of videos and a DVD player. Free to air TV (BBC + ITV + news).
Outside:
Terrace, Garden, Parking. Terrace and garden around house. 11,800 acre deer forest with lochs and much wildlife.

There are no groundfloor bedrooms so it would be difficult for those who cannot manage stairs.
Local activities in and around Lochcarron, Highlands & Islands
Activities: On the estate there is fly fishing for salmon and trout on river and loch, clay pigeon shooting and deer stalking. There are golf courses at Lochcarron, Strathpeffer and Gairloch and the world famous Royal Dornoch Course is approximately a one-and–a–half hour drive. There is also a fine beach at Gairloch. Sea fishing can be organised at Shieldaig, north of Lochcarron and boats for fishing can be rented at Plockton. There is also scope for fishing other nearby waters, by arrangement through the Estate stalker and for other shooting. There are the beautiful and famous gardens at Inverewe, where the Gulf Stream warmth allows exotic plants to grow and gardens at the nearby Attadale Estate. The estate also makes an excellent base for exploring the Highlands and the West Coast of Scotland.
Local attractions include: Highland Museum Of Childhood, Attadale Gardens, exotic Gulf Stream Gardens, Kinlochewe Gardens, Strathpeffer Spa Golf Club, Gairloch Marine Life Centre & Sail Cruises, Skye Museum Of Island Life, Inverness, Applecross and the whole of the Highlands.
Local events: Lochcarron Highland Games - July, Dingwall Highland Games - July + other Highland Games.
