A charming, beautifully refurbished two bedroom gite housed in the old stables of an 18th-century Charentaise house in the peaceful village of Migron - the heart of the Cognac/Pineau producing area and surrounded by acres of vineyards and sunflowers. Renovated with great care, L'Ecurie enjoys a beautiful, private terrace leading directly on to the solar-heated pool - perfect for breakfast in the sunshine, and outdoor dining on warm summer evenings. To the side of the gite is an orchard with a variety of fruit trees and is also available for guests' exclusive use.

The small village of Migron, with its pretty, 11th-century stone church, is perfect for those who don't want to be too remote, with a boulangerie/patisserie and a butchers just a short stroll away, a mini-market, post office, and a weekly grocer's van selling fresh local vegetables. Oysters and mussels are sold next to the church every Saturday morning.
Migron is excellent for cycling, picnicking and exploring, and there are endless opportunities for days out. Chateaux, museums and ancient churches abound, the beautiful sandy beaches of Royan are under an hour away and the stunning island of Ile D'Oleron, even less. For children, there is a zoo at Royan, an excellent aquarium at La Rochelle, a water-slide park just 20 minutes' distance, and the Futuroscope theme park at Poitiers is also easily accessible.
Excellent markets are held one or more days a week in Saintes, Cognac, Matha, St Jean d'Angely among others. Cognac and Pineau des Charentes - a local aperitif - are available to taste and buy direct from local producers, and local specialities include goats cheeses, oysters from the Marennes, mussels, and other wonderful seafood from the Atlantic coast. The best 'local' wine is Bordeaux - most grapes grown here are for Cognac or Pineau - and there are caves (wine co-operatives) in several local towns.

Migron is between Cognac and Saintes. It’s 4.5 hours from St Malo or 6 hours from Caen. Nearest airports are Angouleme, (45 mins), La Rochelle (1 hour) and Poitiers (1hr 30), all served by Ryanair.
Also within driving distance are Bordeaux(1hr 10 mins), with British Airways and BMI Baby, and Limoges (2hrs 30 mins), Ryanair.
By train, the nearest TGV station is Angouleme.
