The farmhouse was originally built in 1694 and has been fully restored but retains many original features.
It is located just over the Normandy/Brittany border close to St James deptartment 50/35
For small groups of upto 4 + 1 baby or small child it is possible to stay on a self catering basis or bed and breakfast at very reasonable rates with lots of extras.
The swimming pool is available from May 1st to September 30th and is heated, fully fenced and secure.
For self catering guests there are 2 bedrooms, a double and a twin, plus 2 shower rooms. Large kitchen/diner, large lounge and sun room.
B &B guests have a double and a twin room both with washbasins and exclusive use of the adjoining bathroom. A fantastic games room with a pool table.
This is an ideal location for peace and quiet but also well positioned for visiting the local tourist sites. Beaches are about 30 mins drive and Mont St Michel about 20 mins. Beautiful views at every corner.
SELF CATERING. This is ideal for couples or a family of 4 plus room for a cot or a folding bed.
TV - There is UK tv plus videos & dvds, cd player and radio.
DINING: The dining table easily seats 6, a highchair and booster are available for children.
BEDROOMS: The 2 bedrooms are well equipped with full size beds, duvets and pillows. Linen and towels are included in the rental price. The double bedroom has an en suite shower room. The twin room has 2 single beds and is suitable for the elderly or those who cannot manage stairs as it is on the ground floor and directly opposite the shower room and toilet
LOUNGE: This is very comfortable and spacious with a large corner suite, lots of books, board games, videos, dvds and cds provided. A woodburning fire set in a grantie fireplace. Heavily beamed ceiling and exposted stone walls.
GARDENS - Petite Chouette is set in nearly 2 acres of landscaped gardens with beautilful valley views. Is very private and not overlooked. There is a patio table and chairs, bench, bbq and sunloungers.
PARKING: is safe and secure for all cars on the gravel drive at the front of the house.
BABIES: Cot provided if required or a folding bed to fit in the double room A highchair and booster seat are also availalble + stair gates.
Owners do not live on site when self catering guests are there.
BED & BREAKFAST OPTION:
It is possible to stay per night on a bed and breakfast basis in a double room and a twin room. This is located on the other side of the house, guests have sole use of all rooms during their stay.
You get much more than just a bedroom with use of a mezzanine lounge with UK TV, videos and dvd's and a large games room with a pool table, football table and playstation. There are comfortable sofas and chairs in the mezzanine, dining room and games room.
Breakfast is continental style and served in the dining room. Tea and coffee making facilites are available at all times.

Wheelchair users have no problem with doorways as they are all wide but there are different floor levels in places. We have a downstairs shower room but do not have grab rails.
Local activities in and around St James, Normandy
The house is in an ideal location for any type of holiday.
It is only 10 miles from the beautiful medieval market towns of Fougeres and Avranches. The beaches are about 20 mins drive and there is a whole coastline of these to explore. North leads to Granville and south leads to Brittany. It is 30 mins from the Baie du Mont St Michel where there are wonderful views of the Mont and guided walks across the sands at low tide.
There is horse riding on the sands at St Jean Le Thomas and Mont St Michel where you can take the horses on the sands. There is micro light aircraft rides, petangue competions and many other attractions at the nearby beaches in high season.
The D Day beaches of Normandy are within 45 minutes drive and most of the war cemetaries and museums are easily accessible too. Every year around June 6th theres are lots of ceremonies and celebrations in Ste Mere Eglise and other towns and villages involved in the landings - great for all the family - not to be missed.
The cottage is in a small village in the country but not isolated, it is 2 miles to the village centre where there is a bar/cafe, boulangerie providing daily provisions also a church. The nearest supermarkets are in St James 5 mins drive.
Aligator Bay at Mont St Michel is only 30 mins away.
There is a large water leisure park near St Hilaire about 15 mins drive from the cottage.
Mont St Michel
The Abbey of Mont Saint Michel is the most commanding view point from which to discover the bay with its endless horizon of sands, its waters and its islands.
Wonderful town with copper and brass foundries at every corner. Great for holiday presents and treats for the home. You can visit many of the foundries located at the rear of the shop showrooms for free. The bell foundry is particularly good. Try also to visit the Norman furniture museum and the lace centre.
An exibition of the American air landings of 5-6th June 1944. Lots of exhibits and large planes and tanks, weapons, documents, photos and souvenirs. Don't forget to take a look at the famous church opposite the parachutist is still up there!

You can take a wonderful ride across the sands and surrounding countryside of the Baie. All ages and levels catered for. Prices from 14euros and hour. Or you can book for 1 - 2 days for a ride to remember!
At Villedieu-les-Poeles. Adults 10e, children 3-12 5.50e. Set in a unique 7 hectare parc and gardens and open every day 1st April to 30th September. 1 child free with each 2 adults.
Set on a farm off the A84 near Mont St Michel. 300 tortoises, crocs, alligators and caymans. 200 lizards and snakes. Picnic area, shop, open every day 1st April to 30 Sept.
From the A84 exit at junction 32 and follow towards St James. The cottage is located just off the D16 Le Ferre. Please ask for full directions or go to our website.
