Carefully restored stone cottage, with private patio & garden, and shared use of courtyard swimming pool. Sleeps 5 + baby. Historic fortified village setting, just outside the walls of the medieval castle of Larressingle, in the old province of Gascony. Quiet location in one of "the most beautiful villages in France", yet just 5 minutes drive from bustling town of Condom with all facilities, and excellent weekly markets.
Surrounded by rolling countryside with fields of sunflowers and Armagnac vines. Great base for exploring on foot or by car. Golf (excellent 18-hole course), tennis, horse-riding, bike and canoe hire available nearby and many "bases de loisirs" with swimming lakes and sandy beaches.

Le Figuier, sleeps 5 people in 2 bedrooms. On the ground floor is a bedroom with twin single beds (these can be arranged as bunks if preferred to provide more floor space for young children). A large roomy attic bedroom studio has one double bed and a single bed, as well as a sitting area with TV / video / DVD player, and wood burner stove set in ancient stone fireplace. Downstairs the cosy dining kitchen with gas cooker is fully equipped for up to 6 people. From the kitchen is access to a spacious shower-room / WC. A washing machine and large fridge/freezer are located in the adjoining garage.
Le Figuier and Le Tilleul (see ref. FM4727 on this site) have shared use of the courtyard swimming pool, located between the two properties, and accessed directly from the rear doors of both houses. The pool is a salt water pool, and can be heated on requested for low season holiday-makers (at additional cost).
It is a Roman-style pool with a constant depth of 1.5m, and steps across the full width at one end. For safety reasons, there are child-proof doors from both properties. The pool is and is surrounded by a paved sunbathing area with teak sun loungers and rerclining chairs.
Le Figuier has it's own private garden with mature trees and a patio with outdoor dining furniture and barbecue. New for 2008 - a fantastic pergola has been built over the patio to provide shade for dining alfresco, even in the heat of the day. There is a splendid fig tree which is loaded with fruit in season (late July/early August), and guests are most welcome to help themselves to the figs, and to the juicy plums on the plum trees. There is plenty of space in the garden for a game of boules, badminton and so on (equipment provided).
Pets (max. 2) are accepted, subject to an extra cleaning fee.

Local activities in and around Condom, Midi-Pyrenees
Places of interest: Chateau de Larressingle: on your doorstep, as are the Medieval War Machines with daily hands-on demonstrations. Condom: nearest large town with its Cathedral dominating the town centre. Wide-range of shops and restaurants. Also the Armagnac Museum, and daily boat trips on the River Baise. Ancient villages of historical interest at Montreal (10km), Fources (15km), La Romieu, Flarans. Weekly markets at Condom, Nerac, Eauze and Agen.
"Parc Walibi", part of the Six Flags empire is at Roquefort near Agen (30km), smaller than many theme parks, but perfect for a family day out, and tickets are good value for money. Bordeaux and the Bordeaux vineyards eg. St Emilion about 90 minutes drive, a great opportunity to stock your wine cellar.
Swimming / recreational: Nearest base de loisirs (leisure park) is at Montréal du Gers (10km), a natural lake, with water slides and a sandy beach. At Gondrin (15km) is a huge man-made outdoor pool, with bumpy slides and corkscrew slides, and a large playground. Further bases de loisirs are at Lislebonne (near Mézin, 10km), Barbotan les Thermes (20km), Lectoure (25km) and more. All good places for a game of boules, badminton, beach volleyball etc. At Condom there is an outdoor public swimming pool, with a full set of diving boards and a grassy area for sunbathing.
Sports: Horse-riding at Escalans (20km), Poudenas (15km) and Les Ecuries d'Armagnac at Valence sur Baise (30km) also offer guided hacks (in English) out into the hills. Tennis - courts available at Condom, Eauze and Gondrin. Golf de Guinlet (18 holes) at Eauze (15km), beautiful, wooded course - said to be the best in the area. Mountain biking: various routes around the area, bike hire at Mézin and other places. Karting, quad bikes, light aircraft all available at Caudecoste (50km).
