It is a two story converted barn attached to a stone built farmhouse, hundreds of years old, on the edge of a small rural village which is surrounded by lovely rolling countryside.
Local village shopping and amenities are within a five minute drive. The property is set in a spacious country garden and arable land. On the ground floor there is the lounge/dinette with kitchen area and ornate woodburner. There is a double sofabed in the lounge.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two single beds. The front bedroom is southfacing and overlooks the country garden. The back bedroom has stunning panaramic views of the Lauragais countryside. The bathroom is also on this floor. Beamed ceilings and stone walls throughout.
We are resident and will offer you a friendly family welcome, summer and winter and provide you with guides and information if you wish to do sightseeing. Or you may wish to relax in the restful garden.
Room for camping. In small, tranquil village surrounded by wonderful rolling countryside. Perfect for sightseeing historical Cathar country, the Med and Andorra (winter skiing). Within easy reach of many amenities. Or just relax with wine, sun, pool and beautiful views of the Lauragais.

Kate Moss' book, "Labyrinth" is set in Carcassonne and the historical Cathar country. We are not far from the Canal du Midi where Rick Stein’s French Odessy went along, through Castelnaudary and Carcassonne. John Burton Race and French Leave was filmed not far from here. Follow in Kevin Costner’s footsteps in La Cité, Carcassonne where « Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves » was filmed.
It is approximately 15 minutes drive to the medieval town of Mirepoix where there are most amenities including tennis, cinema and swimming pool. The towns of Castelnaudary, Villefrance-de-Lauragais and Mazères are about 20-30 minutes drive and each has a motorway intersection giving easy access to Toulouse, Carcassonne or the coast.
Swimming, sailing, windsurfing and fishing can be enjoyed on the large reservoirs of Montbel or La Ganguise or at the Med. Or perhaps you prefer riding, cycling or walking.
It is an ideal touring base for traditional historical attractions, the Mediterranean and Andorra (where, in winter skiing can be enjoyed). Take a look at the local colourful markets.
Or you may wish to relax in the lovely grounds enjoying the sun and some local wine or have a dip in the pool with tranquil surroundings and beautiful panoramic views.
Plaigne is on the border of Aude as you enter Ariège, one of the most unspoilt departments of France.
We are always available to provide you with guides and information if you wish to do some sightseeing. Parents, if you want some time to yourselves, we offer a babysitting and dog sitting service.

In high season we do Saturday to Saturday bookings but out of season we are flexible.
Arrivals after 3pm and departures by 10am to allow for preparation for the next guests.
We ask for £75 per week deposit at time of booking and balance to be paid 8 weeks before arrival.
