Keswick is a lovely Lakeland town, with outdoor shops, a theatre, a cinema and of course Lake Derwentwater. Here you can rent all sorts of boat or just walk alongside the lake.
There are thousands of walks of every type, from the gentlest to the most taxing. Keswick is noted as 'the adventure capital' of England, and there are opportunities to hire equipment and training for sailing, canoeing, mountain biking, horse riding, quad-biking, paragliding... any sport you like, really.
There are also lots of places to visit: castles, stately homes, museums, exhibitions, the Whinlatter forestry centre and 'Go-Ape' high wire course, and the famous Ospreys on Bassenthwaite Lake. You could easily spend a fortnight here and do no walking, if that's your choice! We can't promise every day will be sunny, but we can promise that even if it rains there will be lots of things to do.
