Only 3 minutes drive from the beach, this villa is located in our private olive grove between the villages of Almirida and Gavalochori. You can walk to the restaurants/minimarkets of Gavalochori in 12 minutes.
The house is surrounded by trees and shrubs and is not overlooked because the nearest other villa is over 200 feet (60 metres) away.
Ideal for a couple, or families up to 4, there is a choice of double or twin bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. There is lots of internal and external space with sheltered terraces for outside dining close to the private pool on the large sun patio.
Visiting Crete during April-June or September/October is a delight, with wild flowers in full bloom. The beaches are uncrowded and you avoid the full-on summer heat. Flights are cheaper too.

The house is 3 minutes drive from the 'Blue Flag' sandy beach of Almirida Bay for safe swimming in clear seas. Also watersports, shops and about a dozen quality restaurants. In the other direction, is the traditional Cretan village of Gavalochori (1000 years of history). This is just a few minutes walk away, with more village life, 3 restaurants, minimarket and our favourite 'zachariplasteo' (a sticky cake and coffee bar - perfect for a late night stop on the way home after an evening out at one of the tavernas).
House Layout: Wide patio doors connect the spacious outside areas to the light and airy open-plan kitchen. ‘Al-fresco’ meals are easy because there are no stairs to negotiate from the kitchen. (Watch out! Some other villas have the kitchen inconveniently located on the first floor so it is not so easy to take meals outside to the terraces or enjoy by the pool.)
The living room has access to a downstairs bathroom, and is conveniently next to a double bedroom.

Spectacular countryside with breathtaking views of White Mountains from villa & all bedroom terraces. Sea Fishing - tackle shop in nearby Kalives.
The White Mountains dominate the area and provide a dramatic backdrop to the sandy beaches at Almirida, Kalives and Georgeoupolis. The Apokoronas area is also well known for its traditional inland villages such as Vamos, Kefalas, Plaka and Kokkino Chorio - location for the film 'Zorba The Greek'.
The large bay that makes up the seaside resorts of Almirida and Kalives has many separate, safe, sandy beaches, usually with full facilities. Almirida, is a thriving seaside resort with a windsurfing school and tavernas and bars lining the sea front. There are a couple of mini-markets, a bakery, patisserie, a wine shop and newsagents. Mountain bikes can be hired and there is also a small taxi rank. There is a bus service to Kalives and Chania.
Kalives is a working village as well as being a tourist destination. So in addition to the beaches, tavernas, bars and tourist shops there are local shops plus a good-sized supermarket. Banking, post office and petrol station are available.
Chania - a cosmopolitan city voted the most beautiful on Crete. With the White Mountains as a backdrop, its Venetian harbour, museums, fascinating indoor market and an old quarter of narrow streets packed with interesting shops, Chania offers something for most visitors.
It is a vibrant place steeped in Byzantine, Venetian and Turkish history. The harbour area is a great place to sit and watch the world go by at one of the sea-front tavernas.
From Almyrida, go under the bridge along the OLD road to Gavalochori. After 2 km, you come to a small crossroads, the house is one of three set back from the road on the left.
