Les Conifères is a pretty cottage, ideally located for a peaceful and restful holiday in a quiet farming hamlet, in the sunny Sud-Vendée countryside, and yet is surrounded with things to do being less than an hour from the Atlantic coast and La Rochelle, and only minutes from the Venise Verte, Mervent-Vouvant Forest, and the Renaissance town of Fontenay le Comte.

The cottage forms part of an old farm complex in the tranquil farming hamlet of Chantegros and is comfortably furnished and attractively decorated throughout, with exposed beams, fully fitted kitchen with all mod cons, a luxury shower room with large size shower cubicle, and has satellite and French terrestrial TV, CD/tape player, games, books and toys.
Outside, the cottage overlooks the now grassed over former farm yard with plenty of room for sitting out or eating under the shade of the old cherry tree, plus it has it's own secluded garden at the rear, which includes a picnic bench for those al-fresco meals, and has plenty of shady trees for those hot summer days.
It is situated 10mins from the large town of Fontenay le Comte and less than 5 minutes from two small "villes" with a good selection of shops, a good supermarket and a swimming pool. There is plenty to do in the area, with, for example, La Rochelle, Puy de Fou and Futuroscope only about an hour away. Much closer, (10 - 20 mins) you will find historical towns and villages with interesting old churches, abbeys and chateaux, but if you prefer something greener you could try walking in the beautiful forest of Mervent-Vouvant or a visit to the idyllic Venise Verte with it's shady waterways and guided punt trips. A little further (25 mins or so) will bring you to historic Niort, with it's ancient buildings, fascinating market and excellent shopping centre, or (about 40 mins) Parthenay, with it's charming medeival quarter by the river and, again, it's colourful market. For Eating out, of course, there is no shortage of delightful restaurants or bars in the area. All in all, Les Conifères offers something for everybody for that perfect holiday in rural France.
