A stay in Villa Barbaro offers the best of both worlds. Set in stunning scenery on the border of the Almijara National park, yet only 20 minutes drive from the coastal resorts of Torrox & Nerja.
The villa has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, heated private pool and is set in it's own beautiful, mediterraen gardens. It also has a large separate terrace, a safe enviroment for children to play away from the pool. Unlike many properties in the area, it is easily reached from the main Torrox to Competa road, 200 metres down a well maintained concrete road. The villa is situated just 3 km from the picturesque whitewashed village of Competa, famous for it's wine & honey, an ideal base to explore the Axarquia region & discover the 'real Spain'
Villa Barbaro is set in a peaceful but not isolated location. The surrounding private, gated, grounds totalling 7,600 square metres, are planted with a variety of fruit & olive trees and it's very own shady pine forest, thus affording privacy and peace & quiet. Pretty pathways through the pines lead down to a boules pitch. Ample private parking is provided for at least 3 vehicles behind large double gates at the entrance to the villa.
The heated private pool is 7.5 metres x 3.5 metres, (depth from 1.5 to 1.8m) and the pool terrace has a shady pergola, seating & sunbeds, brick built barbeque, outdoor shower & is bordered by a pretty rock garden. All this with stunning views to the Almijara & Tejeda mountain range. The interior of the house has been carefully designed & furnished in a typical Andalucian style and all rooms have high vaulted ceilings. The large open plan lounge & dining room has air conditioning & a large selection of books, games, CD's & DVD's are provided. The villa has wireless internet access. The fully equipped kitchen is framed by an attractive archway & large breakfast bar. Double doors from the lounge take you out onto a further spacious terrace. Ideal for al fresco dining, again with panoramic views across the valley, this is also a safe & separate enviroment for small children to play away from the pool & has an additional outdoor fridge for cold drinks. The house is situated so that you can seek sun or shade at any time of the day.
The villa has 3 bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom, also a further spacious shower room, both fully tiled. The master bedroom has a king sized bed. The second & third bedrooms both have twin beds. All are beautifully appointed and have ceiling fans. A travel cot & high chair are available at no extra cost. The laundry area with washing machine & drying facilities is situated at the rear of the property. All bed linen (except for cot linen) & towels are provided, please bring your own beach/pool towels.

Real Fire, Air Conditioning, House Linen, Towels Provided, Internet Access. During a two week stay, bed linen is changed mid fortnight. Pool cleaning is generally done early in the morning for your own convenience & with minimum intrusion to your privacy.

The villa is suitable for the elderly & infirm, however, nearby Cómpeta has hills & steps. Smoking is not allowed in the house but ashtrays are provided for smoking on the terraces.
Local activities in and around Competa, Costa del Sol - Malaga
3km from the villa lies the picturesque whitewashed village of Cómpeta. Known as the 'pearl of the Axarquia' it is steeped in history dating back to the Moors. Famous for it's locally made wine & honey, Cómpeta also has a wonderful variety of excellent tapas bars & restaurants emanating from it's beautiful village square, also bakeries, supermarkets, banks and interesting craft shops. It's an excellent base to explore the Axarquia area & surrounding whitewashed mountain villages. Just 20 minutes drive away is Torrox costa with a great expanse of beaches & long promenade with a huge choice of eateries. A further 5 minutes drive will take you to the lively resort of Nerja. There are beautiful beaches here where the mountains meet the sea. The Balcon de Europa & the famous caves in Nerja are definitely worth a visit during your stay.
2 hours drive will take you to Granada & the beautiful Alhambra Palace. Only 2 and half hours away are the Sierra Nevadas. In winter time it's possible to ski in the morning and still be back in time to have a dip in the heated pool, take in the scenery with a glass of locally produced wine and watch a magnificent sunset!
During the mild winter Cómpeta is a great base for walking and riding holidays. Professionally guided mountain walks and rides can be arranged during your stay. With the Almijara national park literally on the doorstep, Springtime is a wonderful time to visit & see the pink & white almond blossom and array of wild flowers. A more comfortable temperature at this time of year for sightseeing; Malaga is just an hour's drive away & it's well worth exploring the port, Cathedral & famous Picasso Museum, as well as excellent shopping. Delightful Cordoba & the Mezquita is only 2 hours away by car. Whatever time of year you choose to visit, you can be sure you'll find the 'real Spain'!

Rental Notes: Bookings are normally Saturday to Saturday, however this may be flexible during low season. The villa will not be available until 4.00pm. on the day of arrival. Cleaning has to be done between change overs and for this reason we ask that the villa be vacated by 10.30. am. on the day of departure. However, whenever possible, we will try to be flexible with these times. We are happy answer any further questions you may have and supply additional photos, also references & reviews from previous guests upon request.
Prices quoted are for full occupancy (6 plus infant) however there may be some reduction for 2 or 4 persons during mid & low season. Please enquire.
