The Local Area: Fell View is the end of a row of three houses and is situated in the delightful, small village of Allithwaite. Two excellent pubs/restaurants are only 200 yards way. Allithwaite itself has a post office / general store, children's playground, tennis court, bowling green and football pitch.
Just one and a quarter miles away is Cartmel with its ancient priory, race course, sticky toffee pudding and superb restaurants, and two miles away is Grange over Sands with its mild climate, beautiful promenade, ornamental gardens and shops. Swimming is availabile at a hotel in Grange or a leisure centre at Kendal. Three of the top seven Cumbrian visitor attractions are only a ten minute drive away: the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway connects you to the awaiting Windermere Lake Cruise Ships, which travel the full 10 miles of the lake, dropping you (for collection later) at Waterhead Ambleside or Bowness. The Aquarium of the Lakes, also at Lakeside, gives you a good idea of what lurks in the waters.
20 Minutes away at Dalton is the fascinating South Lakes Wild Animal Park. Holker Hall, the home of Donald Campbell's Bluebird collection, is 4 minutes away. We are in a great location for walking and cycling as the Cumbrian Cycle route is 1 mile away and Grizedale Forest which has superb way marked mountain bike trails and walking trails is just a few miles north. We are 1 mile from the Cistrercian Way and 1 and a half miles from the Cumbrian Coastal Path. Both superb walking paths.
Local fishing is excellent and there is a fishing tackle shop whose owner is very helpful in Grange over Sands. There are several Golf Courses nearby. Two being in Grange over Sands. Also Kendal and Windermere. Duckys Park Farm is ideal for "little ones"as is the Miniture Village both in Flookburgh. The Ice-Cream farm near Grange is good fun. Ice-cream is cheap and the best in the country. Lakeland Maize Maze near Kendal will keep you busy!!!
