Our property is near the centre of Piscokefalo village, near Sitia in unspoiled Eastern Crete. Beautiful views from the 2 roof terraces across the valley and over village rooftops. Ideal for painting, photography and sightseeing in spring, summer and autumn.
Sitia has a sandy beach with a market every Tuesday, a fishing harbour and many restaurants and wonderful cake shops. There is also the Toplou Monastery, Minoan Palace and other ruins at Kato Zakros and the famous palm fringed beach at Vai. The south coast is also accessible with some attractive villages.
Our house is an original stone built property and sleeps up to 6 people (2 double and 1 twin rooms). The bedrooms are on the ground floor next to the Shower room/WC. The kitchen/lounge/dining room is on the 1st floor with access to 2 roof terraces.
The neighbours are very friendly and always ready to help. The village has its own taverna/kafeinon with a small minimarket and several shops. Sitia is 3 km down the road and at the time of writing there is a bus service 4 times a day. A hire car is recommended.
Sitia can be reached by road from Heraklion and Agios Nikolaos and by ferry from Pireaus overnight. There are also Easyjet flights from Luton to Athens and internal flights from Athens to Sitia or to Heraklion.

Bedrooms:
2 Double Bedrooms, 1 Twin Bedroom. All bedrooms have air conditioning which can be changed to central heating if the weather requires. As the property has stone walls the bedrroms can be cool in the height of summer.

1 Shower. The shower room has a wash basin and WC.
Kitchen:
Cooker, Hob, Fridge, Iron. The fridge has a small freezer box and the property has a travel iron.There is also an electric kettle and toaster A microwave is to be installed during 2008.
General:
Central Heating, Air Conditioning, House Linen, Towels Provided. The air conditioning converts to central heating when required. The property is cleaned by a village lady once a week.
Dining:
Seating for 6. Table also available on roof terrace with chairs to eat and drink outside.
Entertainment:
Radio. There are 2 packs of cards in the dining room with a chess and draughts set. A "Monopoly" board is also available with the extras required to play this game.
Outside:
Terrace, BBQ, Balcony, Garden Furniture.
Suitability:
Not Suitable For Wheelchairs, Not Suitable For Elderly, Sorry - No Pets Allowed.
As there are no cot facilities the property is unsuitable for children under 5 years old. The steps up to the lounge, kitchen etc make it unsuitable to elderly/infirm/wheelchair users.
Local activities in and around Sitia, Crete
Sitia has excellent shops and restaurants as well as the market and cake shops. From the harbour there are boat services to other islands and the spectacular north coast road is also nearby and well worth the experience!
Down on the south coast by the Libyan sea (45 minutes drive) are a number of attractive villages and we recommend Makrigalios which has a number of good restaurants/tavernas as well as excellent sandy beaches ideal for small children. Irepetra, the southernmost city in Europe is also worth a visit and off the beaten track there are villages in the hills where life has not changed much in the last 50 years and well worth seeing.
There is also the Toplou monastery, Minoan Palace ruins at Kato Zakros and the famous palm fringed beach at Vai (the only one in Europe)

Rental Notes: Figures quoted above for rentals are for the first 2 guests, £75 per week per guest thereafter and 50% of total cost for 2nd week.
Bookings for any period less than one week, 14-7 days before commencing stay or bookings between 1 November-30 April price negotiable. Bookings to be made/ confirmed in writing with full names, telephone numbers and addresses of all guests and will be complete on our sending acceptance by post, email or fax.
Deposit of 1/3 of total rent to be paid on confirmation with final payment no later than 28 days before start of rental period with entire rental payable if booking made within 28 days of commencement. If any deposit or final payment cheque bounces booking is cancelled and applicant notified.
Guests to be liable for all breakages, losses damage to property or contents and any injury to themselves however caused - Law of Greece applies. Please send us an email or call us after 6.30pm during the week or any time during the weekend.
