For chilly evenings, curl up by the woodburning stove for maximum coziness.

La Glycine (Wisteria) is the larger of the two and contains a living/dining room with a wood burning stove and a kitchen area. Comfortably furnished with a large sofa and bouncy armchair, TV (DVD & video only), CD player, dining table and chairs to seat 4.
The kitchen corner contains an electric cooker, toaster, microwave, electric kettle, fridge/freezer, washing machine and all necessary pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and utensils. The spacious master bedroom is on a mezzanine floor in the converted loft (grenier) and has a vaulted ceiling with exposed ancient oak beams, bedside tables, chest of drawers and clothes hanging space.
There is an ensuite shower room with wc and basin. The twin bedded room is downstairs and has bedside tables, chest of drawers, wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom with shower, wc, basin and bidet.
The gites benefit from a large library of videos and DVDs, books and indoor games for less clement weather as well as some outdoor games. These are all available for guests free of charge.
The gites have a private patio each and are set in a large garden with plenty of grassed area. The property is not totally enclosed and therefore young children would need to be supervised.
Our rates are fully inclusive of all utilities, bedding, linen, towels (if requested) tea towels and a comprehensive supply of cleaning and other sundry goods such as loo rolls, bin bags, kitchen towels, detergent & fabric softner, washing up liquid as well as cooking & olive oils and condiments. Basically we try to provide everything other than food, drink & personal toiletries so that there is no need for our guests to stock up on things they won't be able to use up in the space of a holiday. Seating for 5. A high chair or booster seat is available for the youngest members of your family.
Entertainment:
DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games, Table Tennis. A TV with DVD player is provided and there is a library of films available to chose from.

Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. The garden is large and well planted with floral displays for each season and has plenty of room for sunbathing and relaxing. Table tennis, boules pitch, swing ball and badminton, bikes available.

The bedrooms are all accessed by stairs or steps so a certain amount of mobility is required.
Local activities in and around Redon, Charente/Vendee/W. Loire
Guemene Penfao lies almost in the centre of the Pays de 3 Rivieres. The town is on the river Don but the Isac and Brivet rivers are not far away. It is a magical area with beautiful scenery and so much to do, it’s difficult to know where to begin.
There is something for everyone; wonderful walks through forests, ancient chateaux, chapels and churches to visit, a local pottery, water sports of every kind including the town’s indoor pool with spa and Jacuzzi and a lake with a safe beach area in nearby Plesse, 4 riding stables to suit all abilities, and then of course there’s food.
There are over 18 restaurants listed in the local area guide book and plenty more besides. There are 10 bars and restaurants in Guemene Penafo alone. Les quatre cles is about a 3 minute drive from the town centre or easily reached on foot in about 15 minutes.
The swimming pool can also be reached by a footpath across a field, the river Don, with a very stimulating climb up steps on the other side. For those with golfing instincts, there are 4 wonderful 18 hole championship courses at Savenay, Rennes, Nantes and Missillac (Golf de la Bretche – breathtaking scenery with a chateau to die for) both 20 miles away and 9 hole courses at Caden – 24 miles and Treffiex – 15 miles.
Even though the area itself has so much to offer, there are many other places worth visiting within easy reach, such as Josselin with its magnificent chateau or for car enthusiasts there’s Loheac which is home to the largest motor museum in France.
The French national rallycross championships are held there with opportunities to have lessons in saloon car and go-cart racing. Or how about spending a day in Paris, under 3 hours away direct from Redon Station which is only a 15 minute drive away. The cities of Rennes, Nantes (see the newly restored castle or the amazing elephant), and St Nazaire, the beaches at La Baule and the vineyards of the Loire valley are all within reach for a day trip.
An easy drive from St Malo in around 1 hour 40 mins or from Rennes or Nantes in around 40 mins. Full route details supplied on booking.

Rental Notes: The changeover day is Saturday although we are flexible off season. There is a wood/electricity winter supplement on all Gites of £25 pw from 1st October to the end of April. 25% deposit secures booking and a £100 refundable security deposit is required cleared prior to the start of a holiday. Incredible prices from October to April, no frills, bring your own bedding, towels, cleaning stuff etc and spend only £125pw for up to 5 people. (We still supply the pillows & duvets). £25 winter fuel applies during Nov/Dec/Jan & Feb - other months depend on weather conditions. Book your holiday before the end of December at 2008 prices - sorry after 4 years, we've had to put them up for 2009.
