Cottage with 1 Bedroom, Sleeps 2, Garden, Swimming Pool
Les Prinquières is a collection of 19th century farm buildings, which have recently been converted to create four luxury self contained gîtes for couples. Set in our own 8 acres of tranquil countryside, yet still very close to all the major tourist attractions and activities in the region and approximately 6 km from the ‘Cité Médiévale’ of Gourdon, capital of the Bouriane in the region of Quercy and is 3.5km from the Dordogne border, with the Dordogne River being just 5.5km away.
La Châtaigne, which sleeps 2 people comfortably is part of an ancient barn, that has been converted to form 3 individual gîtes, whilst retaining many original features and has been tastefully decorated.
La Châtaigne has a fully fitted corner kitchen complete with washing machine, dishwasher, full cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee maker, iron & ironing board.
Upstairs there is a spacious double bedroom, fully carpeted and furnished with a wardrobe, ample drawer space and solid pine double bed with orthopaedic mattress, an ensuite shower room, with cubicle shower, vanity unit & w.c. Bed linen is provided and changed weekly.
The lounge/diner is comfortably furnished, and has a wood burner for the cooler winter evenings, there is a radio/cassette/CD player and a small selection of books.
Doors from the lounge/diner lead out to your own patio area, which is at the rear of La Châtaigne complete with gas barbeque & table & chairs for those warm summer evenings. The patio looks out onto a large grassed area and our own woodland, with a small lake to the right of the barn, whilst the front of the property has views over farmland.
La Châtaigne has the advantage of the early morning sun at the front of the property until the afternoon and the afternoon and evening sun at the rear, making the patio ideal for evening dining. A table and chairs is provided at the front of La Châtaigne as well as the rear to enable full use of the sunshine.
There is a 10 x 5 metre floodlit pool with terraces to lounge in the summer sun; a pool house with a fridge and covered dining area complete with traditional BBQ. Plenty of sunbeds, chairs and parasols are provided for your comfort. For the more energetic, there is table tennis or badminton, or try your hand at Boules.

Local activities in and around Fajoles, Aquitaine/Dordogne
The region, famous for its gastronomic specialities, has an abundance of interesting places to visit amongst the most famous in France:
Chateau de Fénelon being 4km from Les Prinquières
Sarlat and Les Eyzies to the north, journey back in time visiting Rocamador, with its breathtaking cluster of medieval houses and towers to the east, Cahors to the south, whose noble vineyards grace the river terraces on either bank of the Lot
The prehistoric caves of the ‘Grottes de Cougnac’ and underground river of the ‘Gouffre de Padriac’.
St.Cirq-Lapopie perched high above the Lot, thought to be one of France’s prettiest villages with its 15th century church and timber houses built into the cliffs.
Take a boat trip through the ‘Vallee of the Dordogne’, cycle or kayac to see the picturesque riverside hamlets, taking a pic nic for a really fun day out, not forgetting your swimsuit for a refreshing dip in the river, not to be missed. If you don't fancy canoeing down river take a trip on a "Gabarre" equipped with sun screens, the trip takes an hour and is most informative.
Our local village of Fajoles although very small boasts a Norman church, definitely worth a visit. In the months of July and August there is a market on Sunday mornings, the stalls are mostly local farmers and consist of fruit & veg, wine, cheese & bread, you can buy a drink of Sangria, locally made, and chat to the locals as this tends to be very popular.
There are so many places of interest surrounding us, all a short drive away, that I could spend all day listing them here, contact me for more information!
