This traditional, tastefully renovated farm lies in the centre of the extensive Ardèche Natural Park on an absolutely quiet and peaceful spot, at a distance of about 3 km of the medieval village Désaignes. This village has some 1100 inhabitants and lies between Lamastre and St. Agrève. Valence is abt. 50 km away.
Les Blaches is a domaine of 11 ha, at 620 meter altitude, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view and a pleasant quiet in this comfortable holiday home. You have all the premises at your disposal and children can live their life to the full here in building their "own holiday home" in a tree. Owner Simon (who lives next door) will give you a hearty welcome!
This cottage sleeps 6 and was made in the former barn, on the first floor (but as the house was built into the mountain, the access from outside is on the first floor as well, so no stairs to climb). The cottage is on some distance from the main house, so your privacy is guaranteed. Description: Large living room with TV and woodstove, and a dinner corner. Fitted kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, hood, gascooker, oven.
A second cottage, on some distance of the large one, sleeps 4. It is completely new, very well equipped and it has a private terrace with a beautiful view to the mountains and the valley. This cottage still has some availability in July and August.
Sleeps 6, in 3 bedrooms: Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedroom 2 two single beds and bedroom 3 bunk beds.
Private terrace with table and chairs, but of course you can choose to sit anywhere on one of the nice spots around the house.

Local activities in and around Desaignes, Rhone Alps
During the summer months the small village Désaignes offers the possibility of free swimming to their inhabitants and the guests, in a bathing pool in the river Doux (with supervision).
Not far from the village there is a riding-school. There are numerous possibilities for walking; you will find road-maps in the house. And of course you can make wonderful tours by car, e.g. to the Mont Mezenc (1745 m) and the Gerbier de Jonc, with their beautiful flower fields.
Through the valley of the Doux, between Lamastre and Tournon, on a rail-line maintained by volunteers runs an old steam train several times a day. The scenery of this tour consists of rough nature, small tunnels, bridges over the river and steep mountain sides. Towns nearby are Valence, Le Puy and St. Etienne, approximately 1 - 2 hours driving through an ever changing landscape.
There is a small supermarket in Désaignes. In Lamastre you will find 2 big supermarkets and on Tuesday mornings there is a market. You can also hire a bike here. In the house a lot of information and brochures are at your disposal and of course your host Simon will be happy to answer to all your questions.
