Welcome to Chateau Marouatte, a 14th Century fortified castle in the Dordogne which has been recently restored as a unique family home. It is available to hire for private groups, providing many modern comforts whilst preserving its unique historical charm.
Set in the heart of the Dordogne, Marouatte enjoys spectacular panoramic views over nearby Brantome with woodland and pastures in the valley beyond. The 240 acre private estate includes a heated swimming pool, all-weather tennis court and many beautiful walks.
The chateau makes a stunning venue for special occasions and special holidays. 12 bedrooms sleep up to 23 guests - the bedrooms are split over five different areas, making the chateau ideal for sharing groups or families.

Beautifully restored, every room at Marouatte is presented to the very highest standard and packed with original features and antiques.
The main accommodation is located in the Chapel Wing and includes a Dining Hall, Library and Kitchen. Up the spiral staircase to the Master Suite and up again to 4 additional luxury bedrooms.
The Cloche Tower is home to the stunning Games Room with superb decorative painted ceiling, wall murals and wood paneling and even more impressive Salle d' Honeur, a gothic style living room with suits of armour and medieval weapons hanging on the walls. Upstair is the Queen Mother suite - two identical, ornate bedrooms named after their special guest the Queen Mother.
The Garden Tower and Maidens Tower each have their own entrance from the court year and have 2 further bedrooms each, all with fantastic views.
Local events can be arranged including wine tasting tours and banquet nights in your own private dining hall.
An impressive list of previous guests includes the Queen Mother, Sir Edward Heath, Cher, Marillion, Rick Astley, Carole King, Stewart Copeland, Jules Holland, Brian Adams, Jeff Beck & Pavorotti.

Local activities in and around Brantome, Aquitaine/Dordogne
The Dordogne is one of the gastronomic centres of the world, famous for its foie gras, duck, truffles, mushrooms and seafood. There are many excellent, inexpensive restaurants in the area that use traditional cooking recipes.
The famous vineyards of Medoc and St Emilion are close by and the local wines of Bergerac, Yquem, Monpazier and Cahors are also excellent.
The area has an excellent choice of courses including Chateau des Vigiers at Saussignac (27 holes). There are a variety of other activities to choose from including horse riding, canoeing, bicycling and fishing.
