Now the villa provides Puglia vacation rentals with a wonderful view of the sea.
The ideal place for couples seekig romance and relaxation : a very spacious and bright double bedroom with armchairs; a large hand-painted tiled bathroom with shower; a lovely kitchenette in a turret. Air conditioning, washing machine and independent heating provided. The bedroom is furnished with antiques and equipped to comfortably eat inside. The kitchen is fully equipped! The bathroom is bright and old styled. Real fireplace nearby the bed.
This lovely and charming suite has just been completely restored with luxurious particulars whilst respecting the ancient style of materials and furniture of the property.
On the terrace, you'll find outdoor furniture to eat/seat outside, very comfortable sunbeds , parasol, flowers, candles.
VILLA BASSO is set in the countryside , in a very tranquil spot , on a hillside so that often a soft breeze coming from the mountain refreshes the hot summer nights.
Forty years ago, this beautiful old house was the set of the movie The High Bright Sun with Dirk Bogarde, with Puglia standing in for the movie’s setting of Cyprus. Now the house has been restored with the care and the passion that only those who love a building can provide.
The property is only 500 mt away from the road running along the coast and includes 2 enclosed hectars of olive groves and self planted vegetation. Parking area nearby the villa.

Notably less crowded and more peaceful than other Italian regions, Puglia is a lovely area that offers pristine natural beauty alongside impressive historical monuments. Inland, rolling vineyards and wheat fields fill most of the horizon and are interrupted only occasionally by small villages and towns. The 11,000-acre Umbra Forest, one of Europe's largest forests, is another important feature of the interior. Home to a variety of plant and animal species, this is a great place to explore on foot or on bicycle.
The Gargano promontory rises like an island from the flat plains of the Tavoliere, geographically and culturally different from the rest of Puglia. Its landscape is remarkably diverse: beaches and lagoons to the north, a rocky, indented eastern coast and a mountainous, green heartland of oaks and beech trees - reminiscent of a Germanic forest rather than a corner of southern Italy.
For centuries the promontory was extremely isolated, visited only by pilgrims making their way along the valley to Monte Sant'Angelo and its shrine. Nowadays tourism has taken off in a big way, especially on the coast around Vieste, but in 1991 the whole peninsula became a national park, helping to protect the Gargano from overbearing development and ensuring that much of the interior remains supremely unspoiled and quiet.
