Local activities in and around Sedbergh, North
Dentdale
If its peace and tranquillity you are after in your holiday then Dentdale has an abundance of it! Being the most secluded of the Yorkshire Dales you will find the peaceful valley sheltered by wonderful, rounded hills.
Dentdale offers some of the best walks in the Yorkshire Dales with breath taking beauty and spectacular views. Part of The Dales Way follows almost the entire length the river Dee that meanders serenely through the Dale on its journey to meet the River Lune.
With its cobbled streets, the village of Dent is at the heart of the Dale and although small, it offers most things you would want, village shop, post office, pubs, café’s, craft shops, Meditation centre to name but a few.
Famed for the speed of their needles the “terrible” knitters of Dent were well know throughout the country in the 18th Century, and to this day there is still the odd knitter amongst the local folk!!
To the West you will find the picturesque small market town of Sedbergh and the Howgills (renowned fells for walking), recently made famous by the BBC programme “The Town That Wants a Twin”. Just beyond this you have the Lake District, which is very easily assessable but slightly busier!
To the East is Hawes again a Market Town and made famous by its Wensleyedale Creamery.
