This lush green corner of the Cote d'Azur, nestling between the dramatic scenery of the Maures hills and the sea is well worth those extra miles to escape the hustle and bustle of the Riviera.
In a small development, just a five minute walk from the beach of St Clair and surrounded by the Maures Hills, this garden level apartment faces south east and enjoys stunning, uninterupted views of mountains and sea over a full 180°.
St Clair has a fine sandy beach with safe bathing, watersports, bars and restaurants. While Le Lavandou, the main town, is just a fifteen minute walk around the headland with shops, supermarkets, a large beach and harbour with boat trips to the islands.
In the hills behind the coast is France's largest forest perfect for walkers, cyclists and naturalists. Le Lavandou also has 2 secluded beaches for naturists.
This 'No Smoking' apartment has a double bedroom plus a sofabed in the lounge and will sleep 4 but is really ideal for two adults. There is plenty of storage above the bed and in fitted wardrobes in the hallway which is also equipped with a programmable safe.
A well equipped kitchen with hob, oven, fridge, kettle, coffee maker and an outdoor electric grill. The lounge is equipped with a stereo system with radio and CD player plus TV (only French channels) and a DVD player. An Apple Mac computer offers unlimited ADSL access to the internet for those who need to keep in touch. There are also over 30 recent films to watch.
There are plenty of 'english' electric sockets and extension leads. Lots of books, packs of cards, local information and the usual board games are available. The garden is equipped with 2 sunbeds which are in full sun until the evening.
The garden is fully enclosed and has a large awning. Between the lounge and the garden is a covered terrace. There is a private parking space next to the building and apart from 5 steps, access is relatively easy.
There are chairs, mats, umbrella, cool bags and picnic gear available for use down on the beach, plus masks and snorkels.
Sadly the pathway, steps and apartment layout do not make it suitable for wheelchairs.

Le Lavandou boasts 12 sandy beaches, most of them including St Clair are perfect for children, with safe shallow bathing and lifeguards. There is a 'train shuttle' service along the cycle paths to all the beaches. St Clair has Tennis courts, beach volley ball and watersports. In Le Lavandou you can hire a boat, go fishing or diving and there are regular ferries out to the islands.
St Tropez is only 30 minutes away and Hyeres (an ancient Templar town) just 20 minutes. Bormes Les Mimosa, Collobriers, Cogolin and Grimaud are hilltop villages within easy reach. St Clair has 2 small shops for bread, milk etc while there are 3 supermarkets in Le Lavandou with a big market on Thursday morning.

If you are coming by car or train, the journey to the Var is 2 hours shorter than the Nice area.
You can fly by EasyJet to Marseille and Nice, Ryan Air to Nimes and Toulon/Hyeres.
