Located in the South Vendée between the towns of Luçon and Fontenay-le-Comte, La Maison is convenient for the excellent beaches of the Vendée and the many other attractions of the region.
The property comprises of five bedrooms, three bathromes (one en-suite), two sitting rooms, dining room and kitchen. Outside there are two seating / dining areas with a BBQ.
Entertainment includes a large, heated swimming pool, children's play area, English language television. Meals service and babysitting is also available.
La Maison du Blé is an ideal choice for those seeking a property for a large group of friends or two families holidaying together. With its five bedrooms, three bathrooms (one en-suite) and well equipped kitchen, it is well able to cater for the holiday needs of up to eleven adults & children, and can also accommodate up to three infants.
Located on the edge of a village in the South Vendée, set in mature gardens and bordered by farmland, La Maison is peaceful without being isolated.
The fabulous, crystal clear, heated swimming pool at La Maison is perfect for the whole family. At 12 by 6 metres, and ranging from 1m to 2m in depth it is splendid for either serious swimming or serious splashing alike.
In addition there is a well-equipped children’s play area climbing frame, sandpit, large trampoline and Wendy house and a large grassed area for outdoor games.
The pool and play area are shared with an adjacent property (Les Chardonnerets - also owned by us), though La Maison enjoys extensive private spaces, including a private, enclosed front garden.
La Maison has a large terrace (shaded in the heat of the afternoon) that provides a superb venue for outdoor dining, with a table seating up to twelve and BBQ. There is additional seating in the front garden that is perfect for enjoying a drink in the eveing sunshine.
Our service includes a welcome pack, bed linen (freshly pressed), towels (including pool / beach towels) and utilities. The owners are resident in France (our home is about 4km away) and we are on hand to provide any assistance you might need.
Inside, on the ground floor is a attractively fitted and superbly equipped Kitchen, a dining room , salon (with English TV) and living room. There is also a downstairs bathroom and separate WC
Upstairs there are two double bedrooms (one of which is en suite), two twins and one triple, as well as a family bathroom with bath and separate shower enclosure.

Local facilities in the village include a bakery, bar / restaurant, post office and general store. The attractive Renaissance town of Fontenay-le-Comte is a short drive away, and this has a wide range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants, as well as playing host to an excellent market every Saturday morning.
Nearby attractions include:
Vendee Beaches: The coast of the Vendée and Poitou-Charentes is well known for its fine, sandy, beaches and good weather. The sea is warm, shallow and very clean, particularly good for children.
Mervent Forest: near Fontenay-le-Comte is over 12000 acres of mixed woodland. Ideal for walking, riding cycling and picnics, the forest is also home to a water sports complex (canoes, sailing, etc), a small but excellent zoo and an amusement park.
Isle de Ré: The beaches of the Ile de Ré run for 10 km along the south of the Island. They are a Mecca for windsurfers, shrimpers and shellfish gatherers, and are a wonderful place for a family day out.
The Puy du Fou
In the north of the Vendée, this historical theme park is one of the most visited attractions in France. The action is based around live shows and includes gladitoral combats, chariot races, displays of falconary and feats of horsemanship that are frankly breathtaking. "Exceptional" is the only fair description! Many of our guests visit more than once.
A superb, historic and beautiful city. From the port, busy with yachts and fishing vessels, to the quays replete with excellent restaurants, and the handsome 17th centaury city centre with its extensive shopping facilities. The aquarium is the largest in Europe and is superbly presented, with many thousands of specimens from all over the globe.
Take trails through the forest up to 6m off the ground! Suspended by safety harnesses, you are able to climb, swing, slide and pretty much fly through the air. Excellent day out for all ages - all of our guests who have tried this have loved it.
Located in the South Vendée, midway between Luçon & Fontenay le Comte. Convenient for the Channel ports (St Malo 3 hours). Local airports La Rochelle (45 minutes) and Nantes (1 hour).

Rental Notes: Change over day is saturday, though other days may be possible during low and mid season. Arrival time is 4pm, departure at 10 am. Discounts available on crossings with Brittany Ferries. Reduced rates for smaller parties (up to 6) during low, mid season.
