Spacious 2 bed villa as featured in TimesOnline top 50 destinations and on Murdeira resort featured on channel 4 TV on 4 July 08. Extensively equipped secluded home near beach with uninterrupted sea views. Pool, gym, restaurant, grocery store, tennis, small beaches and coves within few hundred metres. Specially designed for the tropics with environmental cooling. Plenty of quality teak garden furniture. Balconies, roof terrace, large verandah, with views over the unspoilt bay and ocean. Private villas to either side, nothing between you and the ocean in front.
10 mins transfer from airport, 10 mins to Santa Maria or Espargos (5 euros for taxi or 1 euro on bus). Cook at home, or eat in the resort's restaurant by the ocean.
Sal is less than 6 hours direct flight from UK, temperate climate all year, scarcely any rain, no jet lag, 10 minute transfer to villa, reasonably priced meals and drinks out.
We stayed in the resort for 2 weeks looking very carefully before buying this particular villa (they are not all the same). We chose it for its position and the feeling of light and airiness. At the edge of a West facing bay, with wonderful ocean views and beautiful sunsets, you can hear the ocean and watch the colour of the water change from turquoise to dark blue to grey to glistening white under the moonlight, to jet black.
Most guests spend all their time outdoors, and enjoy sunbathing on the roof terrace overlooking the bay (teak chaise longues with mattresses). Wake up to the smell of fresh baked bread, listen to the rustling of the palm fronds. Have breakfast on east balcony, lunch on the roof terrace and sundowners and dinner on the west facing terrace.
With small sandy beaches or coves to choose from, your closest one is about 100 yards. There is space for your surf boards, diving or fishing equipment, windsurfers. Car parking outside. With windows, mahogany shutters and balconies/patios on three sides, you can keep the villa at the right temperature, day and night by natural environmentally friendly methods.
The resort was built by a Cape Verde company nine years ago, with a local architect . They installed the facilities needed for resort living in an Atlantic island, with stand-by electricity generator, additional water storage, roads, lighting, security as well as properties specifically adapted to the local climate.
About the owners. We have been letting this villa for 3 years, and despite this being well furnished when we purchased from careful Germans, we have shipped out many extras such as futons from Notting Hill, teak garden furniture, solid wood furniture, quality bedding, beach towels, Denby china and lots of kitchen implements. We travel frequently to all Cape Verde Islands. Extensive inventory upon request.
Sal is great all year, for winter sunshine holidays, and in the summer too, for those that don't want to swelter in the Med.

Seating for 4. Large open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room. Round interior dining table and four chairs. Or eat outdoors on shaded patio, sunny terrace, balcony or roof terrace with teak tables and chairs.
Entertainment:
Satellite TV, DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games, Table Tennis, Tennis Court. Resort has volleyball, internet room, fully equipped gym, floodlit tennis court (astroturf). Villa comes complete with its own boules set and skittles. Ideal location to play bridge.

Suitable for those wishing to find a peaceful sunny spot to relax and unwind near the ocean with easy access to the two nearby towns of Santa Maria and Espargos. Villa is a non smoking villa.
Local activities in and around Murdeira, Sal Island
Windsurfing, kite surfing, sailing, fishing, game fishing, surfing, diving in the bay or within 10 minutes. Visit the Volcanic crater and old salt mines at Pedra de Lume or see the natural rock pools at Burracona. Day trips to other islands by plane, or by boat.
The resort restaurant with tables indoors and outdoors has beautiful views over Murdeira Bay, and a wide choice of dishes. We often eat there. Free sun loungers at the swimming pool.
There are long walks or cycle rides around Murdeira Bay, and there is excellent snorkeling and swimming either in the sea or in the large pool.
There are vast white sandy beaches at Santa Maria, Ponta Preta and on the East of the island. For those that wish to get away from it all, the small beaches in Murdeira have far fewer people, if any at all. Take your picnic to a secluded spot to have to yourself (picnic crockery provided).
Shops, fish market, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, huge white sand beaches at Santa Maria 10 minutes.
Restaurants, bars, shops, business advisors in Espargos 10 minutes. Santa Maria/Espargos 5 euros in taxi or 1 euro per person on local bus which passes frequently. Resort bus service during peak season to Santa Maria.
Many of the restaurants in Sal have open-air dining; some are right on the beach, or even built out into the sea. Prices are generally pretty reasonable; a small beer is about 1 euro, a main course about 8-16 euros, a carafe of wine about 6 euros.

Diving
Diving in Sal, Cape Verdes is extremely popular. There are many places to choose from, fish to see, volcanic geology, caves, wrecks, lava walls as well as night dives. Prices are very reasonable at approx £25 per dive. PADI courses are about £250. Manta Diving operates from Santa Maria.
Direct flights to Sal from Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, Lisbon, Amsterdam, Luanda, Rome, Bergamo, Bologna, Frankfurt, Paris, Munich, Gran Canaria, then 10 minutes by taxi to the villa.

Rental Notes: Change over day Monday from November 1 2008. Water and electricity included in rental. Fine Egyptian cotton sheets, pillow cases, beach towels, table cloths, tea towels from Sloane Square included. We ask renters to leave the villa in the same good clean condition that they found it in. Maid service twice a week included in price.
