We have a charming gite"Le Petit Verger"for rental situated in the river Tardoire valley at Champagnac-La-Riviere. In the Haute-Vienne just 25 mins from Limoges airport. The gite is part of a traditional french farmhouse with a south-west facing aspect in an acre of garden with a rear terrace, sunny orchard and a 4.5 metre plunge pool.
We also offer fishing holidays. Tony is a UK Qualified STANIC fly casting instructor and can give tuition if required. A full range of fly fishing and coarse fishing tackle is available for hire.
We offer self catering accommodation of a high standard to anyone wishing to enjoy a holiday, house hunting trip in the region or those who wish to fish the rivers and lakes of the region. House hunters are always welcome and we have a wealth of information to offer as we have lived here since September 2004.

Relax in our sunny fruit orchard and help yourself to aplles, pears and peaches in autumn as well as black cherries in summer months.
We have a rear terrace with picnic table which is at the rear of the house in the open garden, which borders the small wood. In the early morning the terrace is bathed in sunshine for breakfasts, however during the afternoon the terrace offers a shady place to sit. Later in the day you can see the sun set behind the Champagnac hills.
We are situated at the edge of the village of Champagnac-La-Riviere. The village is small and very friendly and boasts its own Mairie, Boulangerie,Post Office and great local bar"Dinos" with Pizzeria and small restaurant. Dinos offers a wide range of value for money pizzas, to eat in or "Take Away", as well as bar snacks and meals in the restaurant. 3km away is the slightly larger village of Oradour-Sur Vayres. 4 km away you will find Cussac. Both of these towns have supermarkets, bars and restaurants etc.
We can give house hunters advice based on our experiences in the region and have contacts with local estate agencies. A great many estate agents in this region are bi-lingual and will happily spend time with you to find the property that you require. Many people who have stayed here in the Haute-Vienne, have fallen in love with the region and found their french dream here. We can assist you if you need to open a french bank account, arrange viewings at local estate agencies and have information regarding currency transfer to hand as well as allowing you free use of the internet should you wish to keep in touch with friends, family, business or search for property whilst you are here. Seating for 2. Table, chairs and a bed settee. Lovely views and sunshine all day. DVD and Radio/CD player. Logburner.

DVD, Radio, CD System, Board Games, Tennis Court. Tennis court is in village, 5 min walk. Fishing closeby, within 20 minutes there is a wealth of rivers, lakes and private fisheries. Our local bar is a 5 min walk away.
Outside:
Private Pool, Terrace, Garden, BBQ, Parking, Garden Furniture. 4.5m metre Plunge pool now installed. Sunny terrace and orchard. Two pushbikes are available(ridden at your own risk) and a BBQ.

There are a few steps into the gîte.
Smoking is allowed outside but not inside the gite.
Local activities in and around St Mathieu, Limousin/Auvergne
The limousin and perigord region has been likened to the cotswolds. Green and full of picturesque lakes rivers and valleys. Woodland with many walks and rambles. Champagnac-la-riviere is on the famous GR4 route across France.
Only 10 km from the Chateau that was Richard the Lionhearts last resting place.There are many chateaux within a 20 km radius. Limoges is only 40 mins away by car with its historic porcelain factories and museums. Superb shopping centre.
Perigueux, the capital of the Dordogne is about 1 hour away by car. Superb french architecture and small winding streets full of shops and bars combined with a stunning river and view across the region.
We are 20 mins from historic Rochechuart. There are local markets at Piegut and Chalus, the Piegut market is one of the largest in the region and fills the entire town on a Wednesday.
If you like fishing, we can offer tackle hire, advice on where to fish, day and holiday licences and professional fly fishing tuition. In 2009, we hope to be offering further accommodation enabling us to take groups or families of up to 6 people, please contact us for full details.
There are some truly beautiful walks local to us, taking you off winding country lanes through woods, fields and tracks.
Local restaurants and bars offer superb value for money meals. Throughout the year there are various, fêtes, brocantes and car boot sales.
It is very easy to full a week with things to do here and still find time to relax herewith the plunge pool and sunny orchard. Garden furniture and a BBQ are provided for you and two pushbikes are available for no charge (these are ridden at your own risk).
We provide full turn by turn directions from Limoges airport upon booking and a local map. We are a short drive, mostly through countryside from the airport. 25 minutes.

Rental Notes: Changeoverday is usually Saturday although whenever possible we can be flexible.
We will normally accept bookings on any day of the week as we realise that cheap flights do not always correspond with the dates that you would like.
Please contact us for your requirements and we will do our best to help out. All towels and bedding are provided as are complimentary bottles of red and white wine.
Normal takeover time for the gite is 4.00 p.m and departure time 10.00 a.m. However, whenever possible we can be flexible on these hours.
A non refundable deposit of 25% is usually required to reserve the gite with the balance being paid 6 weeks before your arrival. If time does not permit these arrangements, other arrangements can always be made.
