| The South of England covers the regions of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Oxfordshire. Many could pin point places of interest in Oxfordshire like Blenhiem palace and of course Oxford University and the canal city of Oxford itself. Berkshire is not to be forgotten or missed, with it’s beautiful locations like Basildon Park, Donnington Castle and Highclere Castle. West Berkshire also hosts the North Wessex downs, perfect for ramblers and cyclists alike. Buckinghamshire is long county, the stretches from Buckingham and Milton Keynes in the North, to High Wycombe and the London boarders in the South. Buckinghamshire hosts much of the River Thames and is famous for it’s old English market towns such as Aylesbury. Bletchley Park in the north of the county is home to the famous codebreakers of the Enigma machines during the second world war. Popular destinations in the South of England such as Bournmouth in Dorset, the New Forest and Southampton in Hampshire and of course the Isle of Wight are widely desirable for self catering holidays. Dorset has some of the most stunning beaches on the south coast of the country. It’s close boarders with places like Lyndhurst in the New Forest make it a ideal place for exploring. If you fancy more of an international feel to your holiday then Bournemouth with it’s many international institues can offer that sense of a European microclimate. Hampshire may not sound immediately like a key destination for tourists, but the mention of Portsmouth, Southampton and Hayling Island may ring some bells! One of the most impressive coastlines in England is in Hampshire. For most people coming into or going away from Portsmouth and Southampton, their first and last impressions will be full of England’s large maritime heritage and it’s vast architectual achievements such as the modern Spinnaker tower soaring 170 metres.
