| Situated off the west coast of Greece, the Ionian Islands are comprised of a group of six islands and they are Corfu, Paxi, Lefkada, Ithaki, Kefalonia & Zakynthos. The island of Corfu is perhaps the most well known amongst holidaymakers with its popular resorts and beaches attracting many holidaymakers throughout the year. The island has many bars, shops and restaurants for holidaymakers to choose from. Places to visit include the capital Kerkira, Mon Repo, (a famous resort very close to the town), & Benitses.
The nearby island of Kefalonia is another popular attraction with its natural beauty and many beaches. The island has hundreds of picturesque villages and small towns, with an architecture and tradition all there own, surrounded by enchanting nature and is the perfect location for those looking for an insight into the history and culture of the island. The island of Zakynthos the most southerly of the Ionian Islands has a varied landscape, the west is characterised by striking mountain scenery and is largely uninhabited and the east is packed with fertile plains, picturesque bays and long sandy beaches whilst the remaining islands of Paxi, Lefkada & Ithaki all have picturesque settings, beaches and rich histories and cultures.
