| Known as the Sister Island, Gozo attracts many visitors to it shores throughout the year and is fast becoming a top tourist destination. Historically, the Island has always been distinct from mainland Malta; different milestones, traditions, happenings but it is the Gozo coastline that captures the imagination with tiny creeks, beaches of red sand, turquoise bays, stretches of limestone and majestic high cliffs falling in a sheer drop into the clear waters.
The islands year round warm climate is also factor in attracting visitors while the wide variety of restaurants offer the holidaymaker a chance to sample the finest in Maltese cuisine and drink. A range of bars, shops and cafes are also in the area.
For the more active holidaymaker there are plenty of activities to undertake including walking and trekking, cycling and rock climbing while the coastline and surrounding waters offer opportunities for sailing, windsurfing, snorkelling, kayaking, fishing and diving. For those holidaymakers looking to sample the history of the Island a visit to Ggantija – the oldest freestanding temples in the world is a must while the local villages offer culture and friendly hospitality.
