| Extremadura is largely undiscovered by tourists, which is a shame as the Roman ruins in the capital, Merida are well worth a visit. There is a colossal theatre, amphitheatre aqueduct and bridge, not to mention many museums. Caceres has a beautiful old quarter, enclosed by Moorish walls with great watch towers. Trujillo, the birthplace of Pizarro has a medieval castle and well-preserved walls. |
