The people of Killarney say that their county is the best place in the world to explore the great outdoors. It is fair to say that Killarney is blessed with spectacular waterfalls, wild moorlands, streams and lakes and a fair amount of dense woodland. Cork has grown from a town on a marshy island in the estuary of the River Lee to Ireland’s second largest city. The south coast beaches and the Kerry peninsular are within easy reach as is fantastic walking, biking or hiking country.
Cork:
Most new arrivals head for the English market in the centre of the city, but for the most magnificent views of the metropolis you should head up ‘Patrick’s Hill’, a challenging but ultimately rewarding climb. For relaxation there is a huge selection of pubs, inns and clubs to visit – Corkonians are known for their humour and you will be sure of a warm welcome.
Kerry:
Torc Waterfall on the Muckross Road is a spectacular sight, particularly after heavy rain. It is typical of the abundant natural beauty of this part of Ireland. The ring of Kerry is a peninsular characterized by rough coastline interspersed with popular beaches. For more seclusion, drive over to the quieter Dingle, or take a boat trip to the breathtaking Skellig islands.
