The local climate produces more than 300 sunny days a year in Competa and temperatures are good all year round. The Sierra Almijara, with peaks as high as 2,000 metres is very close to the town. It is a stunningly beautiful natural park with a wide variety of wildlife such as eagles and mountain goats. Despite the closeness with nature, coastal resorts and fishing ports are still close by.
